Jake Lloyd Speaks
Posted 23 Jul 2009
Well, this is certainly interesting...

Whatever you think of the prequel Star Wars films, there's no denying their immense cultural impact; the sheer scale of the fame attained by all the Star Wars characters. But behind it all, there are real people, and whilst you may have your opinions about pod racing (and whether something is or isn't pod racing) or the infamous 'yippeee!', there's something quite arresting about the thought about what happened to the little boy who was 'little orphan Ani'. What's he been up to? What's he doing now? What does he look like all grown up?
Well, we have the interview that answers those questions.
Recently, Jake Lloyd came out to Australia as a guest of Supanova, and we had a chat to him, face to face. This is one of the most fascinating psychological profiles of what happens when you go back to school after being in the most anticipated film of all time. -
Star Wars: The Live-Action Show
Posted 11 Mar 2009
Well, it's starting. From hereQUOTEAccording to Lucas, the show will focus on minor characters from the saga and be set in the time period between “Revenge of the Sith” (Episode III) and the original “Star Wars” (Episode IV). The action will follow the Rebel Alliance as it slowly gains strength against the Empire. There will be Stormtroopers, but no Jedi or Darth Vader will appear on screen. As he did with the “Clone Wars” series, Lucas will write and shoot an entire year’s worth of episodes before looking for a cable channel on which to air the series.
Lucas has apparently characterized the show as "Deadwood meets the Sopranos in space." I'm skeptical about his ability to pull this off, given his atrocious screenwriting skills, but I like the idea. -
Angry Video Game Nerd Reviews Star Wars
Posted 1 Mar 2009
Well, here it is. James Rolfe (aka the Angry Video Game Nerd) is doing a two-part review of the Star Wars movies. I'd be interested to hear what everyone thinks of his opinions. Here's Part 1:

Alien effects in the PT
Posted 5 Oct 2008
I was watching Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End the other day when I had a thought: why are the alien effects in the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy so damn bad? Industrial Light And Magic has created some truly convincing and fascinating creature effect for other films, like the Pirates trilogy. Why in the PT do we get this...
when we could have had this?
I know that Davey Jones was a major character while Kit Fisto was just window dressing, but couldn't the effects team have managed something better than a glorified Halloween costume? Many, many people have rightly pegged the PT as being massively over-reliant on special effects; given that, why do some of the effects suck so damn much? -
'The Clone Wars' Leaked Trailer

Oh sweet Christ. Ladies and gentlemen, the PT nightmare is still alive and kicking. Jabba the Hutt's son??!! How many more OT characters can Lucas cram into this mess? Would it kill him to create a decent original character that isn't just a piece of alien eye-candy?
