In the immortal words of Raiden, "DAMN!"
Posted 9 Nov 2004
As y'all can see, my buddy icon is...not. I've tried to put a new one up, but it says some error has occured: "The upload failed. Please contact a member of staff to help rectify the problem "
Well, I figure it isn't admins that count as "staff", but I never can know. -

Ok. So, I'm in a new town, and at a new school, and have to meet all new people. Typical transfer student situation. So, I got pretty depressed for loneliness, especially girl-friend wise, as I haven't had a normal relationship for over a year.
I've met a handful of girls up here, some of which have expressed interest in me, relationship-wise. Now, I'm sort of picky when it comes to girl friends. I really don't think I could be a boyfriend to one of the two even if I tried to make myself. But, I do think they are cool people, and I do want to keep them as friends.
The point of this isn't so much asking about how to find a girlfriend, as I'm patient (and I have more possibilities yet, dammit!), so much as how to let someone know I'm not interested in a kind manner.
Complicating the matter is the fact that my no. 1 prospect is in the same circle of friends (anime club) as one of the people who wants my bootie.
Any advice? -

Serious thought:Remake the PT
Posted 31 Oct 2004
There are quite a few people about who really aren't satisfied one bit with the PT. It seems to me, tht if the money could becollected, using the parody laws, a replacement PT could be done. It would be tough to organize and tough to do, but I should think it possible. -
Yakitate JaPan
Posted 29 Oct 2004
Saw the first two episodes of an anime currently running in Japan, Yakitate (I think) JaPan. Quick note- 'Pan" is the Japanese word for bread.
The premise of this show is that there is this little kid, grandson of a rice farmer, who has never had bread. His older sister insists that they start having bread at breakfast, but the Grandfather refuses. The kid agrees, liking rice very much.
So, the sister takes her brother to a bakery, and he eats a loaf of bread, and loves it. She then realizes that she's late for school, so she leaves him there all day. The baker explains his life goal-France, England, Germany and so many other nations have their own distinct bread, but Japan doesn't. He wants to create a japanese bread, or JaPan. The kid loves this idea, and in the end, makes a loaf especially for his grandfather, who loves it. He bakes a lot from then until the story picks up again, when he's leaving home right after middle school to try and get a job at PanTasia, Japan's most prestigous bread company. 35 students in total want to join, but only 5 of them make it. In the mean time, we find out that he is utterly ignorant to cuisine of the world. The next challenge, which I haven't seen, is that he must make a croissant. Of course, he's wondering who Kurowa-san is.
The thing about this series, is it takes itself seriously over seriously. He makes incredible bread because he has "solar hands," hands so warm that they cause the yeast to rise in a special way. This is animated into the show, with glowing fists. The bread that the kid makes causes people to stillframe in wonderment. It's somewhat tough for me to convey the absurd wonder of this series. This is actually some sort of a way for me to understand it. Regardless, I HIGHLY reccomend it.
