Not terrible, but I find it saddening that whiny Smash fans feel so violated by an Internet review that they need to talk back as if ZP is a debate squad (redundant squabbling is what forums are for, right?)
Personally Brawl bored me to tears after a few weeks, and this is from a self-professed 'that guy.' Within three days of owning Brawl I had unlocked every character and level; and I was about midway through collecting the little unlockable trinkets like a bloodhound ravaging for traces of cocaine when I realised Smash Bros felt terribly worn out. This was because as a former Gamecube owner I had been playing Melee for the past 8 fucking years, based entirely on the fact that it was really the only thing the Gamecube had going for it. I seem to have been harboring a grudge against Nintendo lately, while simultaneously embracing them (a petty attempt to relive the beloved N64 era of my childhood.) Yet like Yahtzee at any opprotunity I will criticize their tendencies to modify and rerelease the same titles over and over. But Nintendo was smart Smash, with virtually a 1:1 console to smash bros game ratio. But the barrage of deja vu titles on the previous generation is now undermining a franchise I theoretically haven't played for years; but of course I have been as I blatantly stated above.
also the single player was lame.

this mini-rant should probably be in the smash bros thread but who the fuck wants to read that thing anymore, its like ten pages.

As a big Smash Bros fan this may be a biased opinion, but I think this review maybe wasn't up to par; mostly due to Yahtzee's reluctancy to review the game. There were some good points, like how the story mode is repetitive as fuck, but he was sort of reviewing from an objective standpoint. I think if he had gone into Brawl having played Melee before it, he would have enjoyed it more but had different complaints.

Yeah fake accents suck; and I could care less about philosophy, really.
At least the guy made enough of an attempt at replicating the ZP look that it didnt come off shitty.
