Han and Chewie Get Suckered into a Holiday Special |
The first seconds of the Star Wars Holiday Special are filled with promise. In true Star Wars form, the special begins in medias res, with Han Solo and Chewbacca trying to outrun a pair of Star Destroyers. In the face of this danger, Han refers to both of these Star Destroyers collectively as "that Imperial garbage scow". It is unclear if Han is displaying his usual acerbic wit or if his instruments are in some way damaged, making him confuse the two warships for one garbage ship. The poor dialogue and terrible sound quality, along with Harrison Ford mumbling the line, all serve to quickly drown that early promise mentioned earlier.
It is also worthy of noting that the scenes with Han and Chewie in the Millennium Falcon have the worst lighting I've ever seen on TV or film. It looks like they just rolled the Millennium Falcon set into some dude's garage and relied on the automatic light from the garage door opener to illuminate the set for the cameras.
"Chewie, I don't know how we're gonna get out of this garage."
