Made the same mistake once, except I was talking about ladies, not kids.
"I wish I was living during Picasso's era. Girls were easier to draw back when they were made of cubes."

And that's why I only use the verb "to scribble" now. sleep.gif

You all have your minds in the gutter! Ha!

Hear, chew on this while I go see a movie.

And no - I am not sorry I drew it. Imagine the marketing possibilities* of 'Ello Trilby, Go Chzo!, Tall-Chan, etc.

*not serious, don't kill me Herr Yahtz.

Ouch, the anime synic in me hurts, even though he looks like he blongs in seventys british childrens televison.

Smart drawings all the same, I'd like to see you tackle a rendition of the Tall Man if its not too much trouble.

Ah, no worries. I have read your anime-cynicism posts and I happen to be in the same boat. (I totally echo, and sympthasize, with your posts about there being a ratio of 25 manga to 1 non-Manga. It sucks. Thank God for Golden Apple Comics down here in Hollywood, it's devoid of manga.)

Unfortunately, it's been a very hard process to cleanse that style out of my drawings as it was what got me into drawing. Now I find anime to be stroke-inducing and incredibly annoying. If you can draw it well, more power to you - just try other things, too. I wish I had earlier.

Tall Man will be soon. I have some sketches and it made me realize how bad I am at adult-looking face shapes. Hah.

Thanks for your comments - may I ask which drawing you were referencing, though?

NINJA EDIT: Ah sweet. I found my Watchmen paperback. This will help immensely with tackling the Tall Man.

Ha! God, that one line made me chuckle

I have no particular interest in anime, but it does fascinate me, in a kid of way native tribesmen facinate outsiders, in a dimension hopping world of my own, that style would be welcome among many others.

yep, keep up the drawings.

You know, being horrendously unemployed at the moment - I am sure I could make one. It'd be a fun project! (And I am now wishing I hadn't moved 'Ello Trilby's eyes up in the picture, makes him look odd. Even for a Sanrio rip-off)

And it's because the Chzo Mythos is so scary that humour helps fend off the scariness. Well, at least for me. I remember cracking a lot of jokes with my friends while playing it so I wouldn't get too freaked out (I scare so easily that it's stupid.) I remember a particular observation was made while playing 5DaS that Trilby looked like Jimbo from the Simpsons, only nicer dressed (must be the hair). So we kept saying, "Hey Simpson, let's go wake the dead!" and other ridiculous jokes.

I'll see if I can find some fabric lying around and make some kind of ragdoll.

/X Days a Sanrio?

My explaination isn't as complex as Black Charlie's.

Artist: Here's my drawing! I worked for quite some time on it.
Maybe two guys: That's nice. It's good, but you did this, this and this wrong.

Artist: Here's a hilarious little scribble I spent five minutes on!
Throngs of People: OMG! LOL! You made my day! laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Alright, as promised to El Presedente: Tall Man

http://i90.photobuck...os/Tallmang.jpg

Unfortunately he's a very, uh, boring un-scary Tall Man. Guest star: Idol. I used a dying brush pen for this and it proved to be my undoing with the cross hatching (but did a cool job of shading).

I'll stick to ballpoint pen next time.

He's a bit bulky in my opinion, his build is almost like that of a normal person.

See? See?

I've never even heard of the type of brush you're using, but it looks sweet.
Incidently, I'm not even sure I want to know what African diety M'bouta thought he's please with that horrifying thing.

Heh! Well, to be fair - while he does look a bit bulky/normal, I'd still be scared shitless if I saw him on the street.

The pen itself is a dual-brush pen from Tombo. it has a nice, small felt nub on one end and a large, pointed brush felt nub on the other. It really great for someone like me who usually draws just straight to pen. Any art store will have them, and they come in every basic colour. They can also be used to colour, and you can add water to it to make it watercolour-y. Totally worth it to pick up a black and some greys for greyscale work.

As for the idol being butt-ugly....uhmn, I was trying to imply that the idol had basically become corrupted with Tall Man's soul within the wood. Uh, yeah, that's it! *shifty eyes* I wouldn't make stuff up on the fly! ohmy.gif
