It is with a great deal of happiness that I announce that Jen and I are officially engaged. We're happy to let you all know about this wonderful event. I generally hesitate from putting up short 'life updates' on this site but that's basically the whole of it.
The exciting planning phase has officially begun. This means that instead of watching dozens of episodes of Whose Wedding is it Anyway? for fun we can now watch dozens of episodes of Whose Wedding is it Anyway? and call it work.
Also, we're going to have to see if we can, "make a dolla holla."

Well, it might not be for everyone, but more importently...
Congratulationz, Lord Cheffers! I wish the pair of you a bizarre yet wonderful quantity of happiness!
And if you need someone at the reception to drain all the wine and fail to do anything meaningful with the bridesmaids, I'm your man!

When you lose your calm, you feed your anger.

Bryan just informed me, and I just had to stop by and say welcome to the club, man.
He means me, in case you forgot my real name.

That's great.
So I suppose this means your boys can swim?

how long have you known each other? im sure shes a great gal, but in todays crazy world, it always helps to have a solid understanding of each other. i have been engaged for 3 years for a girl i have known 4 years. some would say that we should already be married. but i feel IMHO that couples shouldnt wed until they have known each other at least 3 yrs.

Chef, and here we all thought you were going to marry your glasses.
Don't worry, mireaux, they've known each other for about seventy years. I know it'll be tough for Chef to give up his independence as a swinging bachelor living with his awesome girlfriend and endure the drudgery of living with his awesome wife, but if we can just put aside our reservations for ONE SECOND I think we'll all realize the most important thing, which is: CONGRATULATIONS CROWDED HOUSE.
(I kid you, despondent, i thought your crowded house post was charming.)
Congratulations Chef & Jen! I've known you both for some time now (Chef and I go back twenty years, which is pretty significant I think, especially considering that I am 21) and I'm so psyched for you both. You're both among the nicest people humanly possible (some of the things I'll never forget: Chefelf writing to me, seemingly out of the blue, when I'd been going through some hard times, just to tell me he was there for me, and making me cry like a baby; Jen being excited about reading the first draft of my novel, and psyching me up to work on it, way back in 2003 when it was terrible). You make a great team, and you deserve all the napkin rings and bread machines in the world.
