What can I actually like about star wars now?

What did he hope to gain? Did he expect the droid to just mindlessly return to its master and show Obi-Wan who was responsible? Doubtful.
I think I hated everything about that droid/speeder chase. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

it was the only possible lead that they could have had regarding who was trying to kill Padme. he clearly acted on his gut feeling on the matter, and even if the droid didnt go back to Zam, it might have given them a 'toxic dart' style clue about who was behind it.
plus, it was one of those cool, shocking SW moments that make your head spin.

That was like something out of "Superman" comic.
It streched the limited plausibility of Star Wars into almost hyperbolic standards.
It was a "Roger Rabbit" moment.
Jariten, you only liked the scene because you thougt it looked visually cool.
No way did you even register the logic or lack of logic in Obi-Wan's actions until after the scene and the movie were over.

Shocking moments in Star Wars Trilogy
1. Darth Vader's first appearance
2. Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen's deaths
3. Vader strangling Moti
4. Han blasting Guido
5. Obi-Wan;s death
6. Luke;'s attack by the Taun-Taun
7. The Magic Cave sequence
8. Vader's surprise appearance on Bespin
9. Han;s Carbon Freezing scen
10. Luke;'s hand being cut
11. Vaders announcement to Luke
12. Appearance of Jabba the Hutt
13. Luke;s going beserk on Vader.
14. Vader's betratayal of the Emperor
15. Vader's death scene & unmasking
What all those scenes had in coming is that they were shocking noty in action but in the plot lines and the effect they had on the story.
I was shocked abou Obi-Wan jumping out that Window as I was about Luke jumping on that speeder bike on Endor.

why? again, what other clues would the Jedi have to the identity of the assassin if they had just let the droid go? and on the basis of that, what was illogical about obis actions?
not true. it was another demonstration of both the power and the selfless bravery of the Jedi. and yes, like most of the best scenes in SW it looked "visually cool".
again, there was no lack of logic in obis actions.
Obi wan jumps out of the window which leads him to zam which leads him to Kaminio which leads him to the discovery of the clone army which leads him to Jango which leads him into Dookus plot etc. etc.

The droid thing:
1)If the droid could be programmed to cut through a window, it can be programmed to stick to that same window loaded with explosives and blown the hell out of that room. If the Naboo are clever enough to put a decoy on the transport, then there's a decoy in that room. If Obi-Wan wants clues to lead him to Jango and/or Zam, there's evidence all over that room. But I don't think people would be interested in watching him do his version of CSI: Coruscant.
2)It would have been really funny if that droid had a self-destruct if it were captured or tampered with.
3)Being all those miles in the air with all those nasty hard surfaces, the droid could have just flown Obi-Wan into a building, cleaned him off on a wall, or flown headlong into traffic and not miss.
4)Something that small probably has only enough lift capability to keep itself in the air. Add 200lb, and somebody becomes part of the street.
5)The droid would not have returned to its master like puppy dog. It would have fled or blown itself up, but not made a beeline back to Zam.
6)If the droid was packing poisoned worms, it probably carried countermeasures to protect itself. How long would Obi-Wan have held on if that thing was packing vibroblades (EU, sorry)? We know it had a something for cutting glass.
This is just off the top of my head.

Somebody tries to blow up Amidala, so Obi wan and Anikin are assigned as body guards.
Anikin wants a root, but it is forbidden.
Somebody tries to centipede her.
Obi wan is taken to Zam, but Zam is darted by Jango.
Obi wan determines dart is from Camino, so he goes to Camino.
Caminoans think he is there to look at clones ordered 10 years ago.
Obiwan meets Jango.
Jango tries to kill Obiwan and suddenly leaves for Bug planet, but Obi wan follows Jango.
Meanwhile: Anikin and Amidala hide?? on Naboo.
Anikin wants a root, but it is forbidden.
Meanwhile:
Obi wan finds Duku on Bug planet, who is anti Sith, but Obi wan doesn't like him anyway.
Obi wan is made into gladiator
Anikin and Amidala show up to rescue Obi was.
They are made into gladiators as well.
Yoda, all the jedis, and a bunch of clones show up to rescue Obi wan.
They are all made into gladiators too.
Yoda fights Duku, but Duku escapes.
The Bug people are making a Death Star.
Anikin wants a root, now it is not forbidden.
Palpatine is head of senate still, or again.
So is Duku a sith? Who is Palpatine's apprentice? Where was Duku during episode 1? What are the clones supposed to be for? Are Duku and Palpatine buddies? I forgot the seperatists in my synopsis, but who are they? And why is it Ok for Anikin to shag Amidala all of a sudden?. Why is the biggest expert on darts working as a short order chef in some shitty diner? Why is Amidala supposed to be dead, anyway?
Someone who cares please fill me in (if it is logically possible). I am being serious for once - does the story make sense if you can stay awake through the whole thing?

Obi-Wan jumps on top of a flying robot?
Why didn't he just pull it back using the Force?
I understand the idea was to follow it, so that it would lead s to the next thing, but honestly, isn't that about the dumbest idea ever? How about holding on to it long enough to get a jet pack, or rocket boots, or patented Jedi Flying Sticks or whatever. Then he could follow it back from a safe distance, in case any of the nice self-defence measure offered above came into play?
