Sluggy Freelance - Bad?
Posted 11 Jan 2005
Yahtzee's list of things not to do in web comics seems to describe "Sluggy Freelance" pretty well. Which is odd, since Sluggy is one of the longest running comics out there and has a pretty large fan base. I've read through about half the archive but got a bit sick of it.
But yeah, it's odd that all these things alone make bad comics. But smash them all together, and look what happens. Or, more likely, this is where everyone got all the ideas, and crapified them with their wonderous web comic skills. -
Woo, shiny and new/

Yes. There are likely more appropriate Chefelf forums to comment on this, but eh... This one needs one as well. I like the new look very much. Makes reading all this random nonsense much more bearable
So. About Chris & Trilby. It was taking a sort of boring turn around the "several days of standing in a white room talking", but has since picked up. It would probably be best to plan out a story in advance, but as long as the jokes stay funny, it's a good comic. Good work at the moment. -
Tits!
Posted 15 Oct 2004
You know what that tits joke reminded me of?
Anyone?
Didn' t think so.
It's sort of like that one bit from a Monty Python computer game (the Meaning of Life one I believe). There's this giant ad in a city that says something about sex on it. When you click on it, your entire screen is taken up by big flashing lights and pictures of goats dressed in suggestive clothing, accompanied by lots of shouting to "look what this guy is doing over here." It must get a lot of funny looks if you're using speakers to play.
Sort of like what would happen if you clicked the tits link in a public place. Which I did. At school.
Luckily, nobody really notices what you do in that class. -
Age of Evil
Posted 20 Jul 2004
For those that don't know, Age of Evil is a Duke Nukem 3D total conversion by Yahtzee. I finally got around to borrowing Duke from a friend so I could play AoE, and I was pleasently surprised. There's enough humour and secrets to keep the gameplay interesting, and it was challenging enough. Worth playing if you have Duke.
Anyway, Yahtzee, are you planning on ever releasing the other two episodes, or have you lost interest in the project? If it's the latter, then that would be a shame. The first bits were great, and I'd like to see how it turns out.
