Krys hasn't ever referenced pop culture before? Huh. I guess she just talked about the World's Strongest Man competition.

She still might be straight. Straight and insecure. Because of Various Experiences.

Okay, bi maybe.

She obviously isn't into Lance, though. She should have realized that wouldn't help her case.

is that supposed to be Eskimo in the last panel? Cuz it's hard to tell, though plot-critical that we know! Of course, the only read that makes sense is that it is.

Also I thought the female chef was his internet-pen-friend. How wrong I was! He's evidently been corresponding with either the Riddler or the Invisible Man...or both!

dude, i don't know what's more disturbing: the fact that the whole strip is like a subtle dream-interpretation of west side story, or the fact that it fits so well.

i predict that ChefElf will come out of the sun in the Millenium Falcon with both ion cannons blazing & save everyone.

Hi! Sorry. I have not been checking..

Yes, it was Eskimo telling Chefelf his backpack was open.

Yes, Chefelf's Internet Pen Friend is the Riddler.

Thanks, I was proud of my Jets and Sharks. smile.gif

Theoretically, predictions should go in a different thread than questions for me (since I want to read questions for me but not predictions). You guys don't make predictions too often, though, so I'm not sure if it's necessary. UP TO YOUS

Oh, and Walrus, I apologize if my unintentional paraphrasing of wikipedia offended your ears. I did know what keelhauling was, but I wasn't sure if it was always fatal (as it turns out, only a certain kind is definitely fatal, so I'm glad I checked).

i figured it was harmless cuz you already say "next, davy jones locker" - so like, the prediction was demonstratively false from the git-go. Additionally i was just being a wise-acre.

It was Lefty that said that, but the clarification is still nice.

Also, in the future I will be careful not to cross the fine line between theorizing and predicting.

Apologies Walrus!!! Then, what did you say?

*reads*

biggrin.gif Pirates are sort of played out, but they can still be neat as long as it's "something happening in the pirate milieu" and not just "ARR! ha ha! I said ARR!!!!! please love me" I think that's maybe true of anything played out. Except maybe if the things were stupid to begin with, but that, I think, is a separate problem from played out.

True. It is the "pirat-iness" of pirates that is played out. As with the "ninja-iness" of ninjas. Occupations not quite played out: Truckers, Bikers (due for a revival), Shamans, and Feminists. But of course, as the equation makes clear, the pursuit of the exploitation of these groups could only be temporary unless the content was able to transcend the boundaries of the "ness" of them.

(I'm a little bit drunk. Sorry.)

(Just a little bit, but enough.)

(I should probably end this though.)

I sincerely enjoy this comic Laura. Thanks for the free entertainment.

Thank you! You should write a comic called Truckers, Bikers, Shamans, and Feminists. Or it could be just one person, like ANGELA: Trucker Biker Shaman Feminist!

And in reading more of the strip, I have to say that the whole mature element to the comics is cool in a way that is between aww and cuteness juxtapositioned with sweetly coated rawness.

And bitey is a good way for some activities to take place. wub.gif You get much kudos, Ms. Laura. I am very pleased at this latest installment of L&E comics!

I love that punch line in today's strip. And pirates are indeed a bit played out, but I think this comic is more adorable movie singing pirates, which haven't been done since like, world war 2. So they're retro and cool.
