ha ha...I agree. It is such a dull movie. I simply do not get people's fascination with this movie. Even Lucas thought it was going to be torn to shreds.
TheForce.net is pathetic. Look at this $#!7

Plus now looking back at all of Lucas's revisionism, the original Star Wars is the "mythology" at its "most pure" as it were.
Plus there's a huge nostalgia factor for people who saw it as kids/teens in the theater, played with the toys, made-believe they were the characters, watched it on video growing up, etc.
Plus, it was a pure adventure movie at a time when the market was apparently glutted with police dramas and heavily "political" movies. This seemed like fresh "escape fodder" to a lot of people, and they ate it up.

Sheesh, how intolerant! TFN does indeed blow if that's the sort of thing they do. I would suggest (if you still care) a complaint sent to their site/forum staff. Perhaps the particular mod overstepped his/her bounds. On the other hand, they may all be at the same level of jerkiness if that's the kind of thing that's tolerated. I'd be curious though...
If what you're saying is accurate, then it just goes to show how far they've fallen from a discussion board, or even a fan community towards an exclusive club that only tolerates conformity to drooling fanboyism.
They need a huge dose of Christmas Spirit, methinks!
Do people get banned from here for saying the OT sucks and the PT are masterpieces of entertainment and George Lucas is a genius?

Plus, it's their forums. If that's the kind of people they want to listen to, that's fine... And maybe if the PT fans have a safe haven over there, they'll stay out of the forums I visit.

PS. By "Star Wars", I mean "A New Hope".
i watch all movies objectivley. it's just that three stray further from the 'quality' compound. you can't help but notice.
you've never had a mod fuck you around here. people disagree with alot of what you say, well mostly just the one thing you keep bringing up, but you never get banned, or blocked, just for having a different opinion.
that's the difference.
also we don't reply immediatley with 'you suck'... you have to admit we present a case.
i mean, this place is a PT lovers ultimate fantasy. it's the one place they can come and claim to be a minority. I'm suprised George Lucas hasn't joined the way he carries on about being oppressed all the time.

They get upset and want the duel changed in the first movie (oops, sorry, I mean, the fourth movie) so that it matches the prequels. They want this that and the other thing. They want Fett to escape from the Sarlacc (the number of fanboys who had an orgasm when Lucas mentioned that on the Audio Commentary is probably incalculable!).
These are the guys who are HAPPY to proudly own every version of Star Wars that ever existed, and to actually look forward to buying more... (then again I wonder if fanboys exist who would actually destroy all their old copies EXCEPT for the latest version, in an effort to be "obedient" to Lucas's "definitive vision"?).
Considering just how crazy fan fanatics of just about anything can get, I guess nothing would suprise me anymore.
But yes, you're right, the idea that the "latest star wars trumps the old stuff" is much more common than many of us would like to admit. Basically they interpret the entire saga based on Episode III, DVD edition, if you want the simplest version of it, and want everything else to "match."
Then again there's also the RPG obsessed guys who want everything to match the EU as they see it today (which unfortunately is a total mess since the prequels, not that it ever was of incredible quality to begin with, it long ago became unwieldy).

From my point of view, thier attitude reeks of inconsiderate and hysterical nerdiness. I signed up there under the name Civilian_Number_Two when some dipshit created a thread slagging Chefelf for his list. The thread didn't go out of its way to actually refer to items on the list, or to come up with any counterarguments; folks there just said things like "this guy is wrong," and "how can he hate the PT?" I made a few posts but tired quickly. Just now I searched for them to see what I said, but couldn't find them. Either they were removed (unlikely, since I wasn't), or I don't know how their search options work.
Anyway, your particular Mod went overboard if that's really all you said. There is some degree of prequel-bashing over there. If you sign on to the board and search the forums for "chefelf," you'll see how frequently the lists are used to back up arguments about how something in the PT is lame or at least could have been improved or explained. I think that while the general feel of that board is fingers-in-ears fanboyism, there is still plenty of criticism allowed. The Mod who banned you didn't know what he was doing.

Was this the thread. This guy's saying that he thinks Chefelf's list is a joke. Apparently, the idea of not liking the PT is so ridiculous that they can't believe he's serious.
EDIT: Wow. I don't miss that site at all. I looked through the first couple comments and found this:
"I often think that amongst a majority of the prequel bashers out there is an unconscious understanding that the prequels really are quite good..."
Yeah, I think just vomited a little.
