This is an unbelieveably interesting read. Lucas just seems so cool in this one. It's almost like watching a prequel of his life, knowing the tragedy that will come.

It's about Ben and Luke's father and Vader when they are young Jedi knights. But Vader kills Luke's father, then Ben and Vader have a confrontation, just like they have in Star Wars, and Ben almost kills Vader.
Interesting.
Overall, I really respect what Lucas used to have to say.

That was interesting... it gives you some idea of the workload (there is some more stuff that derails his original vision idea here too - Obi-Wan dying)... still it was kind of funny that he wanted to settle down and run a store and that even then he was dissatisfied with what came on screen (special edition foreshadowing)

That is a great read. I had read some of those lines out of context before, but all together in one undeniable place really makes a strong point, after the fact: notice how Lucas compared STAR WARS with sci-fi and the Western (and he obviously meant the Western pre-1960s)? Notice how he only pays lip service to the idea of "myth," and when he does, it's to make a point about Market Research and What Sells?
Great find, Vwing.
Great find, Vwing.
"I had a lot of different ideas. At one point, Luke, Leia and Ben were all going to be little people, and we did screen tests to see if we could do that." -George Lucas, in STAR WARS: the Annotated Screenplays (p197).
