Was he really trying to kill him? I.e. does he kill him if you wait too long? Never waited to see.
If he never does kill Trilby, then he might just have been fucking with him to get him to knock out Siobhan for some reason.
The perverted f*ck I am, I love checking out gory death scenes in adventure games, so I rubbed my hands in glee while the guy was kneeling above Trilby.
It's true you have a lot of time to act, but if you wait about 10 seconds, he introduces you to a heart-breaking experience.
I'm playing 5DAS again right now, just for kicks. Couldn't help but notice that Matthew's birthday is the 28th of June, not July. The diaries of Sir Roderick and Matthew also indicate that John DeFoe was killed with the idol on the 28th of June, not July as it should be to maintain continuity in Trilby's Notes... Or am I missing something here?
It might be possible that the Y-man was just fucking tired. If you check the big dialogue on day one in 5DAS, for example, you'll see that Jim says the following: 'A friend of mine used to say a crazy hermit lived there... ...who killed people and ate them alive.'
I haven't spotted this until I was supposed to translate it.
EDIT: Or maybe we're all stupid, dumb-assed cuntrunts who failed to see something very obvious.
