hey, im new to this part of the forum, but i love books! yay for books, woohoo!
anyway, over the years, i have read sun tzu's art of war napoleon's art of war, and i am currently reading machiavelli's art of war. i thought it would be fun to compare and contrast the three (such as, how to create, maintain, organise, disband and employ an army)-anachronisms aside. and, more importantly, in a battle royal, who of the three would win an age of empires tournament?!
does anyone know of other art of wars? or other military classics?

i just today finished mac's AOW. and Otal, i agree that he would probably win the tourney; however, id attribute the victory to his micromanagment and civic leadership. i believe sun tzu was much more subtle than the other two.
this topic isnt as popular as i hoped/expected, none the less, if i can find a few interested parties, ill proceed to analyse three works with an emphasis on RTSs. ... 'cause im a huge dork, thats why!

In an age of empires tournament I think that Napoleon would get his ass whooped. One of his greatest qualities was being a rousing leader. It isn't something that can really be accomplished in the game. Therefore he would probably end up making a slew of really dumbass moves. Machiavelli would probably have spent his time getting upgrades. Sun tzu would probably biuld towers, get some upgrades, and build up his forces. He would then unleash a horde upon both armies. Napoleon would get wiped out, and Machiavelli would be hard pressed for troops because he was too busy getting upgrades (even if the few troops he has are stronger). I usually play a cross between Machiavelli and Sun tzu. Towers, upgrades, and starting out with a small yet unusually effective strike force. Time is a huge factor in my strategy.
Apparently writing about JM here is his secret weakness. Muwahaha!!!! Now I have leverage over him and am another step closer towards my goal of world domination.

Kurgan X showed me this web comic done with Legos. It pokes fun at all six Star Wars films and I found it to be extremely entertaining.
