I am a fan of Rugby. Both Rugby League, and Rugby Union.

Sadly, I am also what is technically known as an 'American'. So I need ways to get at this most awesome of sports. Advice?

Not knowing a lot about it myself, I can only suggest "not being in America". Normally I'd be phrasing that as a joke, but that's actually the best advice I can give.

Possibly try a specialised sports channel?

Two pieces of advice:

1. Do not rely on ESPN. American sports stations make money from American sports. Try BBC America.

2. Use Google. That's where I learned that BBC America broadcasts rugby.
