It's in there. Under the shrine of the dead quest unsurprisingly.

Fuck me this is the best thread ever ... and where did all these new people come from, suddenly this has turned out to be a Kevin Smith movie, but a good one like Chasing Amy.
I think depression is good if it leads to analysis ... death is cool once you accept it and move on ... girlfriends are nice but lead to nearly as many problems as solutions so shouldn't be worried about (not that girls or boys aren't nice but when you add someone else you add their baggage etc, well worth it but not as life affirming as it seems when you are young and single and horny and ohhhhh) girlfriends on the net don't count ... no arguing they just don't.

Nihilism is king, "once you accept the fact that you will die you can do anything" a great philosopher whose name rhymes with Nyler Turden

Right on Patrick!

I don't know if you've folk have played San Andreas or not, but here's a scene. Remember when the Ballas raided the Grove, raining death from above while OG Loc was being the usual moron inside some poor guys house? I've been feeling like that lately. Like my Grove is under attack, everytime I think I've shot down the Ballas with my homies, more pop up from somewhere else. It tears at my heart. Grove street boys (and girls) pop up here, but in the war... Too many have been slain. JYAMG, this one goes to you bro!

Patrick: Nihilism is a bit too far in my eyes. It leads toward utter apathy and personal nothingness. I prefer existentialism.

Edit: But this is not a thread for philosophical discourse. Complaint: Am I the only person who thinks that San Andreas is an overrated rehash of the last two GTA games and not worth the praise it constantly receives?

No it isn't, nihilism's cool. And this is so totally a thread for philosophical discourse. You can't discuss depression without eventually going into What's The Point Of Everything, Really.

I don't think there really is a point to life. I don't want to be rich or famous, I just want to be happy.

i dont even care about being happy, theres just things need to be done in each stage of my life,

Baby: annoy the living crap out of people
tennager: take the blame for adults
adult: blame teenagers/have sex
old timer: annoy the living crap out of people

as long as i do those then i guess i'd be happy

The idea of a Meaning Of Life simply isn't logical. We can't all be headed for the same thing, we're all unique individuals, whether on the personality scale, or the species scale. Life is quite simply what you make of it.

It's like asking why do we feel pain? When is purple? What does monday taste like? Life is all about enjoying it. Even people that deliberatly put themselves into situations where most would think they'd be miserable or not quite happy (like monasteries or whatever) they are propably enjoying it in their own special way. Some things are absolute, but the big ones are relative.

Slade:

I confess I am not entirely sure what nihilism is or stands for, as all the sources I've checked or heard from have differing opinions. But on the whole, it seems pretty aces. It isn't depressing or deconstructive. If you believe in no god, you think for yourself more. If you reject societal values, you create your own values to replace them. If you think life has no purpose and that everything is chaotic, you become more keenly aware that the time you have is limited and that the only sensible thing to do with life is seize it with both hands and do the most you can.

I think nihilism just has a bad rep. You seem to have a habit of thinking that most popular philosophies and alternative lifestyles are only ever employed by capacinno-sipping beret-wearing posers.
