WASHINGTON — Coin collectors, get ready for another change.
Drawing on the enormous popularity of the state quarter program, the U.S. Mint on Thursday unveiled two nickels it hopes will lure as many collectors as the 25-cent pieces.
The nickels, which mark the 200th anniversaries of the Louisiana Purchase and the Lewis and Clark expedition, are the first redesign of the five-cent piece in 65 years. The two will hit cash registers in 2004 and will be followed by new nickel designs in 2005.

Why does the US always feel the need to market money as if it were a product? They did the same thing with the Sacagawea dollar. It's a dollar! You don't have to advertise it! People want money already!
