one thing that will save you a whole fuckload of grief, is to keep at least 3 save files. one you save after every battle, and the other two that you save over like every now and then. that way, since you can't leave to go train, you just load the file that was before you entered the area.
i forget who wiegraf is so i can't remember how i killed him. although im sure that i didn't have any real strategy.
i got stuck on the guy with the gun and the 3 medusa thingies that can kill you 4 times with one hit.

Is that Balk you speak of? if so, yes, that's a very difficult one without any long-range people... just concentrate on Balk with all your long range attackers, and hope all your attacks make contact.
As for Wiegraf... damn, i forget exactly which battle that is... which chapter?

Wiegraf's no problem. If you want a real challenge, try taking him out with Ramza as a thief. Or a calculator.
I don't know what your party's like, but it can't be too bad, since you got past the duel. Hit him with powerful things, like Flare or Holy Sword techniques. Swords are your friend. If you send someone into the battle without any equipment, Wiegraf will want to punch him instead of wasting a spell on him.

oh. he turns into velius. the blue goat guy.
i just trained until i could beat him.
the duel is weird, but after that, it's, a blur to me.
i do remember that dark holy gives me the willies. that weird scream.

I was stuck at this battle for a reallllly long time. If you have the auto-potion ability, it will help a lot. But.... if this file is your only file, then unfortunately you might have to start again....
But I dunno... wanna share your stats??

I played FF 3 and 7, took me months to beat them. So even if I did play tactics I'm sure I'm the last person to give adivce.
But if tactics is anything like 3 or 7.....Then I just walk around for hours on end, running into monsters and killing them, thus raising my money and exp.
Then when I feel ready, I go and battle the hard guys.
Prior to the floating continent in FF3, I gained massive exp. by just walking around in that forest and killing those dinosaurs. I got all my guys up to level 99!. Anyways, thats how I play.

Tactic's isn't a lot like FF3 & 7. you gotta gain experience, but then you have to spread the experience you got by using it to use skills and learn new job classes (for even more abilities)...
