Hmmm. I'm not sure how to explain that one. Maybe it's old Ben talking hypothetically again?

What's important is that Obi Wan actually DOES get ahold of Anakin's lightsaber so at least Lucas was thinking about it.

Well, what was the alternative? "Your father was an evil sod, and just after I cut both his legs off and left him to slowly burn to death, I picked this up for you?"
It's just a throwaway comment tied up with Obi-Wan's attempt to con Luke into thinking his father was good and is dead. Let's not over-analyse here

I suppose it could have been fixed by maybe Anakin commenting to Ben that he hopes his child one day become a Jedi - I'm not sure if he makes any comments like this in Ep III.

Battle for the Galaxy--read the "other Star Wars"
All I know is I haven't seen the real prequels yet.

The prequels only make sense in light of the OT only if Kenobi and Yoda were conning Luke all along, in fact it was the Jedi who were evil and had to be eliminated and the fact the empire came along was good for the galaxy. Then in the thankfully unfilmed sequels, Luke starts to realize this and becomes the new Emperor, as Papatine had forseen.
Someday when I have more time maybe I'll write up an extended entry on this.

Yes, and this is why I hate the prequels (and ROTJ to a lesser extent) because they have completely destroyed two good characters.

agreed.
the prequels make yoda and obi-wan deceitful - and worse yet, incompetant.

Yes, and of course, this all takes place in ROTJ---The beginning of the fall of Star Wars. Lucas decided to take short-cuts and cop-outs and utterly destroyed something that could've been great---yes, we may get into another "I Hate ROTJ" argument---because Vader could've just been messing with Luke, he didn't HAVE TO BE ANAKIN!
When Obi-Wan said, "From a certain point of view!" I just wanted to scream and throw something at the screen! Of course, I have manners.
If you look through that article with the Gary Kurtz interview, which was taken back in the early 80's, and he mentions the "prequels" which involve (get this) "Anakin and his relationship with his friend, Darth Vader"---imagine what could've been! Imagine that Obi-Wan was not delusional, incompetent, hypocritical, or a pathological liar. Imagine it.
As you can tell, I was terribly disappointed with ROTJ when it came out. We all should've seen then that something was wrong and would continue to get worse.
