"Alice's Restaurant Masacree" is damned good one. What about "Ghost Town" by the Specials, or "The Times They Are A-Changin'" by Dylan, or just about anything in Dead Kennedys' catalogue? I don't think it's really possible to say what the greatest protest song in existence is, but there's definitely an immaculate list of great songs with a political agenda.

"Revolution" is almost too obvious to mention, but I'm mentioning it anyway. There are probably another half dozen John Lennon songs worth mentioning.
"Fortunate Son" by Creedence Clearwater Revival.
"Buffalo Soldier" by Bob Marley. This one makes you do all three of these things:

I know protest songs are prevelant throughout music history. My mind was just blank when i started this thread.
But that's besides the point.
If it's ok to mention songs that don't just protest against politics and what-not, i'd like to include "Needle and the Damage Done" by Neil Young. Does this (or anything like it) qualify? Discuss...

'Apathy' by 1000 Homo DJs
that song lyrically covers everything i have ever tried to cover in a song...
i was about to paste the lyrics when i got the strangest sense of DJV...
i may have placed them somewhere here for some reason already...
i'm not sure...
