I'm looking for a new publisher for a revised edition of Shimmering Sword: Samurai, Star Wars, and Western Sword Fighting because there are only 250 copies of the original edition left.
Should I send a proposal to Lucasbooks which publishes all the SW books? Or, should I try to find a non-LFL affiliated publishing house?
The difference is editorial. With Lucasbooks, I cannot be critical of the franchise. Editors may insist I focus only on the positive aspects in my commentary. With another publishing house, I am free to say what I want as long as it is professionally relevant.
Merits & Demerits
Lucasbooks: SW powerhouse with experienced SW editors. Access to LFL inside information, and art and photographic library. International distribution.
Other publishers: Extremely experienced professionals who can look at the LFL franchise in a non-partisan way. More editorial independance and credibility. Possible international distribution.
Because I want to expand the book, I value the insights of potential readers of the new edition; and certainly all valid points WILL influence the direction of the book's revision. I also welcome general comments about the book if you have any, with the caveat that I am already aware of the typographical errors in the text. Constructive criticism is essential, but bashing is not.
If you want to know more about the book, check out: Amazon.com or Shimmering Sword Homepage. At present, the book is only sold on Amazon.com or it needs to be special ordered from a bookstore.
[BTW, some will argue that this thread belongs in the Book Club forum, but because it is essentially a SW topic, I posted it here. I'll leave the thread's disposition up to chefelf]

i'd avoid Lucaspublishing if you want the freedom to epress your thoughts...
of course, it depends who you want as an audience.
you'll sell a lot more being favorable to SW.
