Only one bloke, Trent Reznor. He picks up bandmates to play concerts from whatever talent is at hand that suits his sound at the time.

He plays all the instruments when he's recording...but, when he's on tour he really can't do that now can he? lol. *Or filming videos*

He'd have to be Octopus Trent to do that. Of course...some of the more rabid fan girls wouldn't object to that >.>

I love NIN's old stuff, but I haven't really looked into much past the Downward Spiral. I heard Starfuckers wasn't very good but never got around to looking into it either way, and just... yeah. "I haven't looked into much past the Downward Spiral" sums up my point perfectly.

It's ok that you like NIN and all, but you don't need to make a whole forum topic about liking a particular artist, especially just to only say "I like [artist]".

Slade hit the money. I own something around 40 NIN releases, but only about 6 of them are any good. The constant slew of remix collections is infuriating, particularly since there's usually only one or two good tracks on them. I do, however, have the utmost respect for Reznor as an artist. He's done well to show his artistic integrity this past couple of years, once he left Interscope and began self-releasing all of his stuff. The ludicrously expensive "collectors editions" are stupid, but releasing the bulk of it online for free, I find admirable.

I'm a pretty big NIN fan, and I like most of their work. I think the remix albums are mainly because he was contractually obliged to make lots of albums, and he wasn't willing to just rush through and make new material that wasn't as well polished, hence the amount of remixes. I think he likes allowing people to tinker with his work as well, which is why now anybody with the software can make remixes of his new material like The Slip.
Gotta lot of respect for Trent, can't wait til they tour the UK.

I can understand the idea that he'd want to fulfill his contractual obligations for the sake of getting out of them, but he was under contract for over 18 years... No one signs 18 year record contracts. He clearly renewed his contract with Interscope at least once. It wasn't until more recently, after, in his own words, watching "the business radically mutate from one thing to something inherently very different" that he began to show signs of discontent with being under contract to Interscope.

I will however, confess to them being quite enjoyable to watch live. Better than Ladytron, who supported them.

They did the soundtrack for Quake aye? well there's this one song I heard from them, forgot what it's called... All I remember is the line "I wanna fuck you like an animal"

Well, I love NIN.

Not a fan of the remixes, but his reworkings like Still are pretty great.

At first I liked their older stuff, but their newer stuff grew on me and The Fragile is my favourite album from them now. Year Zero is pretty awesome too, but it did take about 15 listens (I'm not kidding) from start to finish (except the In This Twilight track - I really hate that song) to actually connect me to it. Ghosts I don't really like, and haven't gotten into it yet, and The Slip is kinda meh, but there are some cool tracks on there (I love Echoplex). Generally, Trent has done some good stuff, some cool stuff, some awesome stuff, and some meh stuff.

And yeah, he is my hero 'cos every time he stuck to he believed in and he seems to me that he is one of the few people in music who are actually honest (at least most of the time).

I bought the 'things falling apart' (remix for 'The Fragile') album for two tracks, an awesome cover of Gary Numan's 'Metal' and another song '10 Miles High'

The remixes bored the crap out of me. He needs to go back to getting remixed by Coil and Foetus.
