Sorry, I missed this post earlier.
Okay. Let's look into the concept of this paradox.
I'm saying 'Develope your own opinion'. Thats not an opinion.
"[Direct quotation from the review]", hahaha.
Yeah, thats what I meant to say.

Well, it is based on the opinion that people should form their own opinions.
In any case, I don't think people who choose not to buy a game because Yahtzee says it's bad are doing so solely because of that. He explains what's wrong with the game. People who don't like various aspects of gaming are going to pay attention when he says it's a big problem with the game.

That was more like 'Yahtzee is right vs I like CAD quite a bit, thankyou'
I read what Yahtzee said, and I thought it would be shit. As a result I read a few comics. They kept me interested enough to read some more. Thank god they did. I like the comic. I'm quite content with the art.
Thank you for the reminder.

Yes, okay.
But my point is (And I really need to stop saying that), people should try a game before they write it off. As I said (I think), I've had friends who normally have good choice in game but for some reason pick a good game and write it off as shit.
Sure, Yahtzee picks at gameplay, but do you think that he exaggerates a fair bit. He can say a game is shit because of said gameplay aspect which the person normally looks for in a game. This person, however, might absolutely love another part of the game, enough to want to play it.
For example, the simon says buttons. Yahtzee clearly shows his distinct dislike of those being in many games, but some people may enjoy that sort of thing, but have a thing against something else.
Look, let me just say that people, when looking for a game or trying a game, don't immediately write it off because of things said by Yahtzee. I've come into games with a completely negative and hate them only to play later and realise that they're actually alright.
It's the negative stigma that comes with the negative game reviews (I'll explain momentarily so don't get all fussy about how Yahtzee is actually just 'a proper critical reviewer') that make gaming potential not go anywhere.
Equally, someone looking for a good game may buy something given a positive review only to be disappointed with an aspect of the game.
Yahtzee is a negative reviewer. We're so used to positive reviews that it's a nice change. But let's face it, when we get annoyed at a game we stop playing or come back to it later. Yahtzee doesn't. He critically picks at points that annoy him for our amusement.
These may not neccesarily be large parts of the game, but they're made out to be a large flaw that could completely destroy the quality of the game. On the flip side, Yahtzee seems to like games that are not a part of the main, like Psychonaughts and Portal. I'm not neccesarily saying their bad, but Yahtzee didn't exactly point out their flaws as distinctly as he did with others.
It seemed he was too busy telling us how great a game it was and that is was absolutely astonishing that he didn't hate the game.
But hey, maybe I'm just a cynic.

So, there. I have great respect for Mr. Croshaw's work but I'm that asslicker who would listen to whatever his/her idol says. Personal opinion always matters.

His personal opinion, apparently.
I guess you're one of the people I'm trying to get my point accross to, but hey, I guess I've failed.

Are you saying that we all can have totally independent opinions or should we be critic slaves?
Actually, it can be quite fun to have non-yahtzee topics in this forum every once in a while. That way, we can make some outsiders feel more comfortable (like the podcasts for example).

Here's where it starts to become obvious who actually thinks before they say.
Sure, Hitler made some decisions are that are morally wrong, but didn't he help build up the German nation after WW1 when they had been stripped of nearly everything? What if he had done that without the genocide? Would he instead be considered an economical mastermind?
There is never just one side to the story. Sure, you can believe everything one person says, but there's always something else to consider.
I'd give more better less obvious examples, but I'm short for time so I'll leave it at that.

Well, taking everything you want from the untermenschen and giving it to everyone else is good for the everyone else.
Preparing for war meant less unemployment, but without a successful war and lots of foreign resources to take it wouldn't have worked for long.
And..."some decisions that were morally wrong"? Yes, IIRC, he did tend to do quite alot of that.
