I miss the old days of pixilated First Person Shooters, especially "Heretic". Several people here (especially Heccubus and barend) know of Heretic and miss it to hell. So I've decided to start up the "Heretic deathmatch club"! I made a Heretic game server (I'm the only one that has one on the internet), called, well, what else: "Heretic Deathmatch Club" (HDC for short).

Okay, do not fret if you don't have a copy of Heretic, I know of this site that has the full three episodes of Heretic up for grabs. I will post the link at the end of this post. If you are worried that you won't be able to run Heretic on your PC, I have one thing to say Don't worry. This is an old game, it will run like a dream on your computer. Unless you're still stuck with a 100Mhz Packard Bell, then I can't help you.

Many of you know that the new computers don't run MS-DOS games very well, but fear ye not! I know of this program that turns Doom-based engine games into a OpenGL wonder! This program is called "jdoom". It adds dynamic lights and sharper 2D graphics for better gameplay.

Okay folks WHO'S WITH ME?! If you are interested, make a simple post saying "I'm In", and before you know it I'll have a time set up for us all to meet in Heretic. And we'll be smashing each others heads into walls in no time!

Sorry for the double post, but I ran out of time to edit my last one, so here's intructions on the "Shawnathan's Heretic Deathmatch Server".

Intructions on how to get into my Heretic server succesfully

**NOTE: (Make sure you are playing Heretic off of Doomsday when following these instructions!) Whenever you go to the multiplayer part of the Heretic menu, go to "join game" and click on "Update". You should get one server (*sob*) that says "Shawnathans Heretic Deathmatch Club". Highlight the server and click on "Connect" and get ready to beat the tar out of each other!

Time my server will be on: 8:00PM to 12:00PM - Well, Unless we get really into playing, we could be on all night. Now at 8:00PM when I start up my server, I'll wait for thirty minutes for someone to show. If no one does show up then my server will be off at 8:30PM. Sorry, I don't want to wait around for 3 hours for someone to show up. ( It's 1:00PM at the time of this post. I Live in Ohio, USA. I'll let you do the figureing on what time that is in your time zone.)

Yeah, Have you heard of DosBox? It's a pretty decent program that runs DOS games pretty damn well. The beta version is up for downloads, but it doesn't support as many games as I would like it to.

I came up with a way to let people know when my Heretic Server is on or off! If you add me to your buddy list, I'll have a message saying "Heretic Deathmatch Server - (ON or OFF)" right by my name.

It's simple,

If it says ON...the server is online.

If my name says OFF...the server is offline.

Also, you don't have to wait for me to deathmatch, it's easy to start your own server. It only takes a few seconds. Just make sure you're server is connected to www.doomsday.com, so people can find your server easier.

Man...well, there's gotta be something we can do. I'll be here Friday night, I don't really have much of a life. So you can count on me being there Friday night.

Urm.... I may have a problem with being there tommorrow. If I don't show up soon, start without me. I'll probably be there by nine, but since I have PARENTS! they may wrest control of the computer from me depending on wether they have work to do.

And if we wern't long distance, I would seggust some kind of phone speakerphone connection thing so we can insult each other's mothers after kills.
