The Short of It: Will performed his duties accordingly for ten years, Elizabeth stayed true to him for ten years, True Love for the win, Will is free of the curse and can now stay home with Elizabeth and Little Will and live Happily Ever After.

Anyway, I was under the impression that Will was doomed to stay aboard the Dutchman as captain for eternity or until he finds a new captain. It's not just a curse, the problem is that the metaphysical realms need that sort of middle management to keep things running smoothly. He keeps getting to visit once every ten years, that's it, as far as I'm concerned.

Besides, what are they going to do with the fact that Will's heart is outside his body once the curse is lifted?

Actually I was referencing the plot of Westward Ho, which I wish to God someone would get around to making into a movie. The way the Jesuits were treated as master spies was so cool. But yeah, you can't mention the inquisition without Monty Python or Mel Brooks coming up.

I don't understand how Will can come back, either, or what he does with his heart or who replaces him as captain of the FD, but according to Wikipedia, the writers of the movie confirmed that he's set and good to go and live on earth now because what's-her-face was loyal. Blargh. If someone can explain it to me, I'd appreciate it.
