I agree completely with this. As master force uses they should have been able to battle on a pure energy level (or better writing).

it troubles me that in the official SW RPG, that storm troopers have such strick prerequisits, and are so hard to kill...
when in the films an ewok can do it with a rock...

The Jedi should've been this way: There are two types of Jedi. The Knight and the Master. They gradually, through atuning through the Force, learn new ways to utilize the Force better. That is, the "early levels" are just tapping into it for the physical, control over your body, control over other objects, healing, etc., so yes, Yoda probably was a Knight at one time, when he was very-very young (about 100 or so), but then he reaches a point where the physical isn't necessary, the saber isn't necessary. Part of the battle they engaged in shows this. It would be like the Matrix when Morpheus tells Neo that he "won't need to" anymore.
So, my further thought is, that while these "Knights" who are still depending on their Force-enhanced physical abilities, they are susceptible to the Dark Side, and like the West End Games version, at times they need to be "purged" of the Dark Side. And this is where Yoda or other high masters are utilized. They take in the knight whom they've sensed are slipping over to the dark side and after deep meditation and counciling, they're brought back over to the good, and their minds are clear again. If Yoda was to be in the prequels at all, this is how I had hoped to see him.
Some Jedi knights would never acheive the levels that Jedi Masters have achieved, just because they can't mentally move past the physical side of it all, and this is their downfall. Ben, only through those twenty long years achieved the power of the Master, and not some 30 minute seminar from Qui-Gon-Beyond-the-Grave thing... retarded.

Battle for the Galaxy--read the "other Star Wars"
All I know is I haven't seen the real prequels yet.

Great ideas. Just how Jedi are supposed to be. And that stupid Qui-gon thing really pissed me off. Plus Obi blatanty contradicts himself by saying that Yoda was his master. Like the midis, Lucas explains something that is best left to his fans to work out.

I have a pretty lame explanation. Want to hear it?
In the "Buffy- the Vampire Slayer" universe, a vampire calls the vampire who created him his "sire." But he also calls the vampire who created his sire "sire," since "grandsire" sounds kinda... dumb. Maybe GL thinks the same way: Obi-Wan MEANT "the Jedi Master who trained the master of my master, who in turn trained my master, who trained me," but shortened it to say "the Jedi Master who trained me."
(that should be in someone's signature) [/Qoute]
As you command, Lord Barend.

Yeah, I thought of that, but Obi doesn't only say that Yoda was his master, but also that Yoda trained him. I know you could say that Yoda did train him at the Jedi temple, but I think Obi made it pretty cleat that Yoda was his real master that trained him in everything he knew.
