Seriously . . . George Lucas was lucky as all hell to get an actor with the pedigree of a Jimmy Smits to portray Bail Organa. With the possible exceptions of Alec Guinness, Harrison Ford, Ewan McGregor, and Liam Neisen, has there been a better all-around actor to grace the Star Wars universe?

I agree. Jimmy Smits did a great job of playing Bail Organa.

I hate to say this, but I had never heard of him before... . But then he did an OK part for his role in the movie. Except for that car he drove (which is not his fault becasue they probbaly CGIed it in afterwards).

I hate that car. It looks like a 60's sports car.

Jimmy Smits - best SW actor ever... WHAT THE?
Alec Guiness and Peter Cushing for the best single movie role.
The combined Darth Vader out of ESB next.
Owen and Beru out of Star Wars did a great job.
Liam Neeson was the only TPM actor who got his character across.
The 'younger generation' crowd in Star Wars did great jobs - they had better roles in ESB but some things didn't come across as well... Clive Revill and Sebastian Shaw had very small but very strong performances.
Jimmy "Limited Screentime" "Underdeveloped character" Smits only rates anything on any scale for his work in ROTS - in AOTC he, like the others, is lumped in the trash save for occasional moments where Lee or Macgregor pops there head up.

But he is cool. He's the main man behind the rebellion...
I think its a waste not to have used him at all really, ,because he would have been good I think.
I personally want to see a Jimmy Smitts Spinoff Star Wars movie...
Whats worse is he dies in Episode 4 and you don't even see the guy!
Too bad, this character should have been explored more, I mean he's Leia's foster father for christ sakes, we friggen get to know Boba Fett's dad, why not freaking LEIA's surrogate DAD?
I always thought Bail was going to be buddies with Obiwan
"YOU SERVED MY FATHER IN THE CLONE WARS"
I guess you can scrap that idea...

Surely you're not suggesting that there is a lack of continuity between the two trilogies

As I said in my ignored thread about the Star Wars TV show, its all part of the evil plot...Jimmy Smitts was cast because...HES A TV STAR! What better way to start the new TV series than with Jimmy Smitts and Bea Arthur leading an all star cast of wookies to fight the evil empire! Man I can't wait for the cheesy Deep Space Nine melodrama about the toils of being a galactic leader in a civil war...just think of the sit com comedy opportunities with C3P0 and the young Princess Leia! It'll be like Mr. Belvedere meets the West Wing meets Deep Space Nine...

I seriously think Christopher Lee was underused. He had great performances in James Bond, LOTR, Frankenstein, Gremlins 2... why make him something as lame as Count Dooku?
[Qoute] it's not me using a double standard, it's you using a half-standard.
