Things I May Get in the Near Future:
- Kodax Digital Camera (5.0 Megapixel) DX4530 - With docking station... possibly printer/docking station.
- Gameboy Advance SP - Also, Legend of Zelda Four Swords, Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past, Super Mario 3, Wario Ware, etc.
- ReplayTV RTV5504 40-Hour Digital Video Recorder - Will be getting soon.
- SONY SDM-S74/B 17" LCD Monitor - Need two for my dual monitor setup.
- Western Digital 250GB 7200RPM IDE Hard Drive, MODEL WD2500JB - Need for extra storage of mp3s and video on my PC.
- X-Keys - I've been wanting one of these forever.
- Corsair XMS 512MB PC3200 RAM - Just need some more RAM.
- Logitech Z-3 Speakers w/ Subwoofer - Need some new speakers for my PC. Mine are pretty much dead. Most stuff comes out in mono.
- Limited Edition Crystal Xbox - They're only out in Europe right now but I really want an NTSC version. Especially when I decide to go on Live.
Longshot(s):
- Apple Power Mac G5- Not going to happen... but it's nice to dream.
- Apple 23 inch Cinema HD Display - Again, it would be nice.

Leo Laporte droned on for what seemed like hours about how great these hard drives are. Good Lordy how I want one.
And I agree, Jenn, I wants an iPod as well, and a tablet. Having a tablet would save having to scan everything that I draw for stuff.

now what was i going to say... oh the ipod...
when i started for a company they gave every employee one engraved with company name and year founded. that was pretty nice but i really haven't used it. Actually I recall now promising to set it up for my wife to use, maybe she forgot too.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Replay TV seems like it's a little more hackable and it seems to me be better for what I'm looking to do. What I mainly want to do is record TV (obviously) and then shuttle those videos to my PC and burn DVDs of certain things. If you have any reasons you think I should consider TiVo instead I'd love to hear them.
I'm not as psyched about the iPod as everyone else on this planet seems to be. I'd love to have one if I got it as a gift or something, just not tops on my list of gadgets I want.

TiVo won a vast majority of the categories however the summary may be exactly what you want out of replay, the ability to manipulate your recordings, which Tivo does lack on a bit.
I also like tivo cause i have directv and getting the directivo's is great. If I happened to be you on the day you were buying this stuff and you have two TV's, I would get 2 TiVo's both with HMO, one a standalone series 2 and the other a Pioneer TiVo from http://www.pioneerburner.com/ in order to burn directly to dvd what i recorded.

I am looking into getting an mp3 player, as my portable cd player has long ago died and mp3 players are far less space consuming, and as I would imagine, less likely to break. (less parts that spin.) Probably not an iPod though, as they are in the pricier range of mp3 players, and I do have the tendency to break things (as is evident from the example of the portable cd player.)
Also sometime in the (probably distant) future I would like to obtain a tablet for drawing things, a laptop computer and a digital video camera.
Remember Emu's face, people; one day it's going to be on the news alongside a headline about blowing some landmark to smithereens, and then we can all sigh and say, "She was such a normal person".....
....We'd be lying though.

Anyway, as far as the iPod goes, I'm not really "psyched" about it per se, I just think they're sort of neat. I know full well that I'll probably never own one (unless I suddenly and inexplicably become irregularly wealthy within the next little bit), but if I was given $500 and my choice of one tech item to spend it on...well...that'd probably end up being it.
