now she claims that someone snuck it into her surfboard bag, and there seems to be some evidence to support this...
either way... i don't car if she smoking the shit in customs a blew it in the face of an official.
becuase they want to kill her.
now a couple years back there was a bombing incident at a club in bali where quite a few australians were killed.
again, the motivation for this attack is irrellevent, and i don't want this to turn into another terrorist debate. but the asshole responsible was sentenced in bali to a few months in jail. you heard... a few months for killing a club full of people.
compared to a girl they want to execute for having a recreational drug in her possesion...
what is bali trying to tell us?
Australia makes up a large quota of their tourist dollar income...
if i were minister of international relations, i'd tell bali, if australians are not going to return from bali alive we'll stop spending money on you...
where does everyone stand on this.

There should be more people like that in the world.
But on the topic... possession of marajuna, whether she is guilty or not, should not be a capital crime. Killing a lot of innocent people on the otherhand SHOULD.

i don't care that this girl is australian... (that's just a helpful factor in me klnowing about it and comparative incidents) but yeah, no one should die for a drug that has never killed anyone.
was she going to plumet the value of their land with three bags?
where is alaxander down-syndrom in all this? huh?
why the fuck did we give him the job of foreign minister?
we should really threaten bali, with a complete tourism boycot.

Also, the death penalty is an extremely problematic concept - even more so in a situation like this.
But here's a little fact - the last man hanged in Australia was INNOCENT. Think about that.
And this is the biggest problem with the death penalty. It's irreversible. We can't say to that guy "Oh, sorry about that. We had the wrong man." It's too late.
If you lock someone up in prison, you can always let them go and give them some type of compensation if you got it wrong. It's a bit hard to do that however if you've executed someone.
But yeah. I'm all for a tourism boycott for Indonesia. And we should warn the international community too. Join the 21st century, Indonesia. We're not going to wait for you.

Perhaps Indonesia tries to discourage GIRLS from travelling to Indonesia so as not to make any competition for the local sex industry?
The mere thinking out it makes me sick.

JYAMG - I concur. I don't buy into that "Moral outrage by society" bullshit that my government has put forth in defense of the corporal punishment. But this is about something worse, an assault on the natural laws of the universe that allow one's punishment to fit the crime. Even in the 16th century, people saw the death penalty for minor offenses (and in this case I don't even see any offense by the actions taken by the defendant) was absurd.
I'm calling an SOS to all sane people in the world to flee to the piece of Wyoming I own in an effort to create a thinktank to bail humanity out of idiocy. Or better yet, lets all meet up and rescue this poor woman and offer her protection in exile from Bali. I'm the guy with the laptop who sits in the van and gives you intelligence until I get snuck up on, where I kick some ass and then have to go in after you guys to rescue you because your radios die.
Seriously: People == STOOPUD.
