Anyone watch this show? It's interesting seeing what Roman life was like, although I've heard various things about the accuracy of the show. I looked up the cow blood thing and there seemed to be some discrepancy about whether those actually existed.

Never heard of it before, but I guess I should check it out. Roman history is interesting but so far I've mostly seen their leftovers around these parts and in Rome itself. Oh, and Gladiator.

Heh, Gladiator. I didn't really like it much for some reason. Maybe it was my mood at the time and I should watch it again?
Also, if anyone's seen The Tudors it's basically the same thing, just about King Henry VIII.

Nah. It really is boring and drags on needlessly. Especially if you already know what's going to happen.

Rome is quite good. I preferred the first season to the second, but that's mainly because the story of Caesar is more interesting than the early days of Augustus. But also, the sidetracks are better. This is not a Roman history lesson. The events happen as they did, but the motivations for nearly everything have been changed to coincide with the stories of fictional people (or fictionalizations of real people). Nevertheless I like it. Any comparison with Gladiator should be retracted and forgotten. Gladiator is rubbish; Rome is a lot of fun.

Yeah I really enjoyed Rome. I wouldn't mind if they went ahead with another season. It's interesting to see the representation of Roman life. I know that historically it is somewhat inaccurate from the perspective of events and characters but I ended up being more intrigued by the examinations of Roman life.
