DVD Regions
Posted 21 Sep 2007
Ok, this may or may not be a stupid question, but I honestly have no idea since it's not the kind of thing I would usually think to try.
Can you burn a copy of a ripped Region 2 PAL DVD onto a Region 1 NTSC DVD, then play it successfully on a Region 1 DVD player? Normally this wouldn't be an issue, but there is no Region 1 version for what I'm trying to get.
Would something like that work, or am I just a step away from wasting some perfectly good blank DVDs? -
April Fools' Day

Love it or hate it, it's the one day where we are reminded of what we are the other three hundred and sixty-four days of the year. So why not let loose and have a laugh at the expense of others, or just make yourself look like a total idiot and let the others have a laugh? It's fun!
So I'm curious about you guys. What do you do? What have you done? What are you going to do? Do you go out of your way for this holiday in some way or do you loathe it with a fiery passion?
I personally only have a few jokes lined up, and only for a handful of specific people. I've never really been able to remember it enough to plan anything major ahead of time, unfortunately, but just for my own satisfaction I've decided that I will not think of anything depressing or upsetting today, I will refuse to take anything seriously, I will not take off my Hat for anything, and I will be hyper and excitable all day long!
And that has absolutely nothing to do with those weird pills I found last night! -
Quotage
Posted 28 Feb 2005
With all these random games flying around the forum, I figured it's my turn to make one up and hope people actually play it. I bring you, The Quote Game! The rules are simple:
1. One person writes a quote or bit of dialogue from a movie, song, TV show, book, or something else of the sort.
2. The next person to post has to name what it's from and who said it, then leave their own quote.
3. You can't put up a quote you personally thought of, anything from a forum post or website (quotes from webcomics are allowed, but newspaper comics are not), or something without a traceable source.
EXAMPLE:
Quote: "Why is the rum gone?"
Answer: Captain Jack Sparrow, Pirates of the Caribbean
I think that about covers it, let's start with an easy one...
"You what? You walked in there, wrote, 'I am a fish,' four hundred times, did a funny little dance, and fainted." -
God, The Devil, and Bob

Does anybody remember this show? It was on about five years ago, but as far as I know, only four episodes were aired before it was taken off TV entirely because of the "controversy" it caused. I had almost forgotten about it completely, but a couple days ago I somehow stumbled across the DVD for it with all thirteen episodes (I never knew there were that many!). I bought it on an impulse and hid it so I wouldn't get yelled at for overspending, but after rewatching the four aired episodes and finally seeing the other nine for the first time, I just have to say this:
God damn, I love this show.
It's utterly brilliant! Maybe it's because I'm incapable of taking religion seriously anymore, but I don't see how people could have judged it so harshly! The characterization, the stories and dialogue...the Devil, hell, they actually make him kind of lovable...in a strange way I can't actually explain...
What do you guys think? -

That...that is just brilliant! I mean, where did you find that? Did you make it yourself? Kudos if you did!
Maybe it's the cynical, church-hater in me, or it could be the sleeping pill kicking in and making everything all loopy...but I absolute love that picture...
I want something like that posted on my wall for all to see and be offended by!
