God real or Fake what do you think?

God hasn't always done good for people, look at the Puritans in Salem. If you were different from others, or didn't worship God on a regular basis..."SHE'S A WITCH! A WITCH! WITCH WITCH WITCH! HANG THE FUCKER!" And to think these were Godly people. Wouldn't God give them the knowledge that nobodys perfect?
I had a friend that would try to talk to his dad about his problems. You know, those problems all teenagers have. His dad was heavily into Christianity. My friend asked his dad for advise, and his dad simply said "Ask God, he will always help deal with your problems...". Gee, thanks dad, I didn't know talking to the wind current would get rid of my problems, Thanks!
When God and Jesus comes down and tells us that he exists, I then will believe. I will hand them beers and watch Steven Seigal movies with em' all night.

Although Shawnathan, it's not quite God's fault, it's people for having blind faith. They don't open their eyes and take a good look around them before running to God.
Well, unless you believe in the old testament. He was quite an asshole back then, always with the vindicative smiting and all. We were made in His image, allright. I'll agree that some the doctrine that is put forth is utterly absurd though. God is love, but if you dislike his policies or disobey, you get eternal damnation. But God still loves you. Entirely too tyrannical.
Being agnostic, I'm not going to say that there is or is no god. I highly doubt that what many people worship is the extreme creator of the universe and Everything. If there's something like that, I see it more like the sun, just hanging out and radiating creation or something.
I just try to follow the rule "Be excellent to each other." That seems to work.

You know how there were scrolls found, and these were translated to the bible. But couldn't have these "scrolls" been a made up story? What if people find a book of "Harry Potter" thousands of years later and actually believe there was a flying kid with glasses that was a witch? It's kind goofy but It's can be possible.

evolution is a theory
we've got nothing to work with here...
we're all too busy deciding what color cell phone shell to purchase...
what jeans will make your ass look fat
which leaf blower is the one for you
etc. etc. etc.
we're slowly destroying the planet...
where we come from isn't as important as where we're going...
so we may as well wait out the clock and just find out the hard way...
mankind's failed every other test...
one more couldn't hurt...
i mean if god doesn't exist and you die... oh well, you won't be around to be dissapointed
if he does and you failed to believe in him...
you miss out on the bonus round...

It would kinda suck if my consciousness just ceased to exist entirely upon my death. Of course I wouldn't know about it, so I wouldn't be able to care...
My aim is to stay "diabolically... neutral." That way, if it turns out I've supposed to have been kow towing to a deity or something and haven't, I can at least put forth the arguement that I've been doing the best I can with what I was given and able to ascertain. But at the same time, I'm not going to change my life to score brownie points, because if I die and theres nothing, then I've just wasted time I could have spent doing other more productive things.

Your analogy about people finding copies of Harry Potter thousands of years in the future is a very good point, Shawnathan. One of the biggest problems I have with Christianity is that so many people put more trust in these ancient scrolls than their fellow human beings in this modern day and age. I'd like to think that maybe, just maybe, having at least 2000 years more collective experience, we might know a little more about life, the universe and everything than the guys who wrote these scrolls.
And Slade, you made two very damn fine points -
I feel it is a far better thing to make the most of this life than worrying about the next one. And even if God WAS real, do you think he'd be pleased that all his so-called followers are wasting the precious gift of life that he gave them?
And lastly, regarding the lack of God's intervention....
If I was God and people were torturing and burning innocent women in my name and butchering others because of some misinterpretation of some book that was supposedly about me, I'd show up and clear the misunderstanding.
Also, I don't buy that theory about how hardship exists as a way of testing people's faith. My mother was a wonderful, wonderful woman - entirely selfless and as good a person as you could hope to find. And I had to watch her slowly succumb to cancer as I grew into an adult. And there was nothing either she or anyone else could do about it. How is that a test for someone to overcome?
I should also warn that any Christians on this forum who even think about trying to convince me that this was all for some greater good, that I will never speak to them again if they do.

Whocares how old they are. Human nature has not changed all that much. And if God is God then whatever he produces through man would be a living document for all time.

Thankye, I think I tried talking about this stuff in another forums, and all I got was a bunch of Philosophy garbage from the bible from everybody.
You know what, maybe this recarnation stuff is true. I don't see why it's not possible, if you think about it rencarnation makes more sense then your invisible soul floating in the air, through space, into Heaven. Or to Hell.
I don't want to live forever and ever and ever and ever and ever in some place where EVERYTHING is perfect, any normal person would eventually bounce off of the walls.

What does all that mean? People worship God because they believe he is the divine creator. They believe that he loves them and guides them. Faith in man is based on somthing totally different. I have faith in the bus driver who picks me up, my boss who will pay me, my doctor who will give me a good check up, the engineer who designed the load capcity for the flooring in my apartment etc... I have partial faith in man (mostly based on his duties, that he is paid for) and full faith in God.

JYAMG, I appreciate that you are able to bring up a sensitive subject for you in these forums and I'm sorry to hear about it. However can you see that it seems unfair to use this subject as a point in a debate thread and then threaten anyone who attempts a rebuttal. Even not being a Christian there are some things I would have liked to say about it but I'd rather not risk you never speaking to me again.
With love,
Walrus
