Just saw it and found it amusing. The pacing was a little slow for my ADD, but what can you do.

I think Hollywood is finally starting to release stuff that shows what High School was like if you were not a 23 year old super model.

I probably would have enjoyed it more if the main characters didn't annoy the hell out of me so much. Every other minute I just wanted to beat someone in the head with a shovel. It's like, yes, I knew Napoleon was supposed to be a dork, but my god!

Does anybody understand just what the hell the deal with the tater tots was? rolleyes.gif

I thought it was kinda funny. No real laugh out loud moments. I was annoyed by the fact that the microphones had to be in every shot. It stopped being funny three minutes in. It was OK, but over rated.

Edit: You can't really say it was hollywood, because it was a Sundance film first that was picked up by MTV.

I thought it flat out sucked. It tried to be so smart and witty, like a Wes Anderson flick, but it just sucked. Napoleon's charcter was not funny enough to carry the movie. And that's what they tried to do. It had zero storyline and the other actors were kinda funny, not really.

The only part that made me laugh was Napoleon's opening line on the bus ride, other than that, pure shit.

Go watch Sean of the Dead for a good laugh.

...Ok, that bit with torturing the action figure was pretty funny. I forgot about that.

I personally loved it. I saw it in the theatres and recently ordered the DVD and watched it tonight. I even have a souvenier shirt I got at a sneak preview. I liked how it showed the awkwardness and sensitivity of human nature, and I could relate in some ways to the characters. In fact some of them kind of remind me of some of my relatives. The wacky thrill seeking grandmother especially. I also used to have a chapstick fixation when I was younger, much like Napoleon and part of one of my job responsibilities now is photographing meals, kind of like what they did with the meal collage in the opening credits.

But I'm a dork, I'm a sucker for comedy/dramas about outsider families. In short, I thought it was flippin' awesome!

You're not the only one Prune, the DVD sold out both for rental and sales at my Video Store.
