Not to worry, if the creator was thirteen, but it seems slightly grubby that a grown man things it correct (in a series where no one displays any bodily functions whatsoever, blood or bodily fluids) that Leia appears for no apparent reason in a metal bikini, while Padme suddenly swaps her regal robes for a black outfit a dominatrix would slap you for suggesting.
What makes it worse of course is that on the extras of AOTC Natalie Portman says with almost a straight face that all her outfits were a delight ESPECIALLY a particular outfit GEORGE DESIGNED HIMSELF. Not suggested, or made recommendations on, BUT DESIGNED FROM SCRATCH. She said this with neery a tear or quiet wretch. Good God what a gutsy little actress that one is.
Just thing of that next time you are all recommending GL for sainthood.
Here's one guy I'll never be inviting round for Christmas dinner, not with all my female relatives at the table ...

How is that this same man who wrote Princess Leia could not duplicate an equally shining character? Or is this a testament to Carrie Fisher?
I don't see Leia in a metal bikini as a problem because that's Jabba's character and fits the situation. Padme in a dominatrix is a problem. Costumes are all extensions of character. How does this costume express Padme's character? She looks like she's hot-to-trot, yet she pulls the brakes on the situation? Talk about MIXED SIGNALS!!
I think the costuming in the Prequels is damned awful.
Altho, I know this is not the point of your post. I just think that Lucas has no concept of what drives a good female character. Again, I note with interest, that Princess Leia is based on Lucas' tom-boy sister, and personality traits of his ex-wife, Marcia, too.
Now, when ROTJ rolls around, Marcia is no longer a part of his life.... Leia's character falters... hmmm..
Now, in the prequels, there is no Marcia, and Linda Ronstadt is history for a while now, and the only female influence in his life is his daughter who comes across as rather vapid to me, or just simply a pre-adult who has been pampered and spoiled... and the character of Amidala falters... hmmm...
The only other women in Lucas' life are his secretary and any other employee, and I'm sure they don't think of Lucas beyond being a boss, so they may across to Lucas as rather alien and inaccessible... the remainder of the females in the prequels? Alien and inaccessible....

Yeah. I noticed that too. Lucas is a pervert. That's why his wife left him...

Padme is a cock-tease. She tells Anakin that he's got no chance of getting his grubby little Jedi paws on her, then wears something for their little evening fireside chat that's blatantly going have an effect on him which can't be explained by the force.
Foul temptress, I cast thee out!

You really have a point there, WalkingCarpet. Padme is a real idiot. She doesn't want Anakin to be in love with him and then she uses that dominatrix suit. What a bitch.
