It's the asinine plot development aspect of it...he never does it in the OT, and there's no reason for him not to have, since we see him in a bunch of tight spots where such an ability would come in handy. Then all of a sudden in the PT, he can fly and basically act like a "living" version of Batman's utility belt...what the hell? It's beyond cheesy, and reeks of a filmmaker who has no idea how to advance the story along.

Exactly, it's just like Yoda Fighting, or Palpy Fighting, totally against what we see in the OT and it serves nothing to the story (the core story) besides Lucas own satisfaction

As a longtime fan of science fiction/fantasy, I don't have a problem believing the impossible, only the improbable.

The fact that R2's method of flying is physically impossible doesn't bother me. It's the improbability of having his jets removed for apparently no reason that insults me as a fan. It has to be GL's biggest weakness as a storyteller.

Why shouldn't Palpy and Yoda have fought when they were younger. I know yoda said wars make not one great, but that's becuase he killed too many people when he was a warrior and now he regrets it. Maybe he changed over time,

Yeah, but WHEN did he kill thousands of warriors? The PT makes it sound like they've had peace for thousands of years. So, when did he do that? And if he did, he only learns this lesson in the last years of his long lived life? Like I've analogized several times, it's like my grandfather smoking for all his life and the last two years of his life finally figures it out, "Oh, smoking is bad."

I have no problem with Palpy and Yoda fighting, I just have a problem with HOW they fight. They're suppose to be masters at the Force, they should be levels above saber-fighting. Palpy was very dismissive of the saber in ROTJ.... because he's beyond that and so was Yoda. Saber-fighting makes it look like they've learned nothing at all. I don't mind an all-out Force battle, just not saber-fighting.
