I liked Carrie and 'Salem's Lot. Good creepy stories and not too full of themselves. His more recent stuff...he just seems too damn devoted to Stephen King the Phenomenon, Stephen King the Literary Icon. His narcissistic droning about the trials and tribulations of the writer is tiring. Many of his books could also be cut by at least a third if he had a decent editor, but of course that won't happen any time soon. As for the Dark Tower, his magnum opus, I read the first book and part of the second, and found them both fantastically dull.
