George Lucas has decided to start doing interviews again. He will be answering three fan-mails a day for as long as he is able to. He missed you all, and missed all of your letters, so he called me up and said, "StarWarsIsUs, I really want to do those interviews again."

Hey GL! There are a couple of questions I have. 1) Why can't Padme come back as a Force ghost, since she was strong in the Force? She made a connection with Leia after Leia was born. 2) How long past the movies does Threepio still work? He is a protocal droid, and I was wondering if they "live" to be hundreds of years old. 3) What happened to R2's rocket packs? I heard the rebels had to use the parts as scrap metal, and that is the reason he doesn't have them in Episode IV. Is that correct?

George Lucas: Those are very good questions. It is good to see that there are people out there who really do still think for themselves. Well, first off, you have to understand that while Padme had a very... innate link with the Force, she wasn't really a Jedi. So she never had a chance to learn how to become a Force-ghost. And yes, Threepio has the capability to live over 3,000 years. He'll be there to see generations and generations of Luke's offspring. R2D2's rocket packs had to be taken off because the Rebel Alliance needed some of those parts to help power X-Wings and Y-Wings. So you were right, to an extent.

Hello Mr. Lucas! Thank you for the movies and your hard work to make them great! I hope I am around to see Episode 7 in May of 2021. My favorite movie will always be The Empire Strikes Back. The scenes with Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher are immortal on screen. My brother and I will always have Star Wars to talk about. Thanks for the memories!

George Lucas: It's good to always hear fans reminisce about the good-ole days. You are correct in assuming that I did hard work to bring the Star Wars movies to life. I did work very hard. That is why I am so well off now as far as finances go. But mainly, I make movies so that I can appease the fans... that is all it is about... mostly.

Mr. Lucas, when you remake the original trilogy, will you still include the scene where the storm trooper bangs his head on the door in Episode 4? I would really like it if you did because that’s such a hilarious moment! Steve.

George Lucas: That moment is probably the most funniest in all of film history. So yes, when I go back and completely redo the Original Trilogy in a 'CGI-Special Edition-Deluxe Star Wars' DVD pack, I will include that scene.

I would rather it not be; not all of these questions are going to apply to Star Wars. Others might include Indiana Jones 4, amongst other things. George likes answering questions from all his established franchises.

Dear Mr.Lucas, you are without a doubt the greatest filmmaker of all time. I have a few questions:

1. Did Mace Windu settle on a single planet after the events of Revenge of the Sith? (My personal favorite).

2. Are you at all worried that Episodes 7 - 9 will not live up to the Star Wars legacy and hurt popularity?

3. In The Phantom Menace, Bail Antilles is running for Supreme Chancellor, is he supposed to be Bail Organa? Organa appears to be a respectable figure in the senate, who could be Supreme Chancellor. Also, it is said they are both from Alderaan.

4. Is Bail Antilles, Wedge Antilles' father or relative?

George Lucas: These are interesting questions. They have difficult answers, so I will try my hardest to answer them in a comprehensible way.

1) After nearly dieing when attacked by the Emporer, Mace knew he couldn't stay on Coruscant without drawing too much attention to the fact that he was still alive. So he went to Tatooine, much like Obi-Wan. It is interesting to note that Mace is in Episode IV: you don't see him, because he is sneaky. He is the one that makes R5 short-circuit using the Force, so that the Lars will buy R2-D2 instead, because he knows that R2 carries a message from the Princess.

2) Not at all. I expect the next trilogy to be just as well-liked and loved as the other trilogies. StarWarsIsUs and I are going to work as hard as we can on Episodes 7-9, to make them the best Star Wars movies ever made.

"Bail" is a very common name on Alderaan, as you might have guessed. Bail Organa and Bail Antilles are NOT the same person, but it is good that you noticed the name similarities. Bail Antilles and Wedge are related but I have yet to establish how so. I will leave that up to the Expanded Universe, if any professional author wants to complete that storyline.

How is Harrison Ford going to be in an action movie, when he is getting to significantly old? How are you going to pull that off and make it believable?

George Lucas: Even in his old age, Harrison has a very youthful spirit. And he is in tip-top shape for someone who in his sixties. Anyhow, Indiana Jones 4 will mostly concentrate on Indi's teenage son, who has grown to be a lot like his father.

Dear Mr. Lucas, I think it would be very interesting to see a Dark Jedi with 2 double-bladed light sabers wielding one in each hand. I would like to see that in the next movies, Emery.

George Lucas: Wouldn't it be impossible to maneuver two double-bladed lightsabers? It is a good idea, but I am not sure just how realistic it is. I will consider it, perhaps.

George, is it true that there will be two Star Wars television series? What will they be about?

George Lucas: Yes. LucasArts and THX are going to team up with Warner Brothers and make a few animated series having to do with the timeframe in between Episodes 3 and 4. The first one will be about Boba Fett. We will get to follow him on some of his journies through the galaxy, and see what type of things he did. The second series will focus on Darth Vader. Along with that, we will have another story going on that will chronicle the life of young Luke Skywalker. Finally, fans will get to see what happened during Luke's life. And the third series will be mainly about Mace Windu. After he survived the fight with Palpatine, he goes on quite a few adventures that are worth telling about. The first series is scheduled to premiere sometime in February 2009. And the other two series will follow subsequently.

Thanks for everything you have done for us Mr. Lucas! I am your biggest fan and I watch the Star Wars saga straight through everyday. Also love Indiana Jones!!!!! Have you thought about making a new TV series 'bout Indi J.?

To answer your question, I may consider sometime in the future, making an Indiana Jones animated special. Or perhaps a whole series. Fans would love that, and I know they would flock to the stores to get their hands on a copy.

George Lucas: I will be making many changes to the deluxe edition. Happy to see that you are excited for them, because I know I am! I plan to replace Yoda with the CGI version we see in the prequel trilogy. Then I will have my men go back and digitally give the characters more modern hair-cuts so you don't keep watching the movie and saying "Hey, This was made in the 70's!".

Then, we will go back and replace Chewbacca and Vader with CGI. Many fans have suggested adding purple Ewoks during the Battle of Endor, which I am open for doing. If any of you have any suggestions, feel free to send them to me through this thread. StarWarsIsUs and I are busy people, but we try to take time to listen to the fans!

George Lucas: Thank you for sending your questions. I will try my hardest to answer them in a satisfactory way. Your first question pertained to a fight between Han and Indi. This is a hard inquiry dealing with mainly technicalities and personal opinion. So ultimately you will have to decide for yourself who wins. If I were to choose --- I would probably say Indiana. Han is mainly just skilled with a blaster, while Indi is skilled with quite a few other things.

On the subject of Superman Returns. I myself haven't went to see it, but my children Katie and Jett have. Using Jett's words (I mainly agree with him on everything, so his thoughts would probably reflect mine if I had gone and seen it,) "It sucked."

GL! I don’t mind the changes and I’m sure you’re telling the truth about making two more trilogies and you being a Christian. I don’t even mind if you remake the original trilogy because I understand your vision and you’ve said that Episode 4, 5 and 6 haven’t entirely captured your vision. I’m also glad that StarWarsIsUs can help you with your work and you should really thank Jesus Christ for him helping you. I just have a few simple questions. Here they are:

2) Will Leia eventually have a light saber of her own?

George Lucas: (chuckles) Settle down there --- but no, I appreciate enthusiasm, as I have said many times before. It is what makes me know I have accomplished my task of making Star Wars. To lay something to rest, I need to specify that I am no longer a Christian. These days I lean more toward Deism. But you being a Christian is fine by me. Now onto the questions.

Mr. Lucas, I would first like to thank you for creating Star Wars which has been my favorite film series of all time, ever since I was five years old. I have just one question. A while back ago you said that if Obi-Wan had fought Darth Sidious instead of Anakin at the end of Episode III, Sidious would have lost and been killed. How is this possible when Obi-Wan lost to Dooku who is weaker than Sidious and can’t even beat Dooku with Anakin’s help?! I know you said that Obi-Wan has the will of the Force, but I thought that meant you didn’t have to win every battle, just survive. Can you please explain this to me?

George Lucas: Excellent point. But you have to understand that when Obi-Wan was battling Dooku, the fate of the entire galaxy wasn't at hand. There was much less to lose, which means he naturally did not give it his all. If he had been fighting Darth Sidius, however, he would have been going at it head-on, powered entirely by the Force. There is no doubt in my mind that Obi-Wan would have beat the Sidius.

Dear GL, Was wonderin when the new DVD's will be released in the UK.

George Lucas: Oh boy ... not for a while. The United Kingdoms rarely get anything distributed to them until all the other countries have had the product for a few months. The new DVD's will come about June 2007, which means they should arrive in Europe sometime in Christmas of that year. Hope that helps.

Is it true that you are going to help Steven Spielberg in an extra-special edition of E.T.?

George Lucas: It's possible. That movie needs so much work, it's ridiculous.

I heard that you were a Star Trek fan. Is this true?

George Lucas: To some extent, yes. I had to borrow a lot of material from Star Trek to create Star Wars. And my franchise is the better of the two. (laughs) But really, the original Star Trek series was a great era in television. My favorite character would probably be Captain Kirk. Reminds me of myself in many ways.

I have 2 questions. I noticed in A New Hope during the scene where the rebels are trying to destroy the Death Star when Vader is tailing Luke, Vader says: "the Force is strong with this one." Does Vader know he is trailing Luke Skywalker?

George Lucas: Vader doesn't understand that that certain pilot is his son. It's important to note that Vader doesn't find out who Luke is until the period between Episode IV and V.

Is there any way, where the fans of Star Wars can unite on one day, call it Revenge of the Sith Day to watch the movie again to show our gratitude.

George Lucas: On 7/7/07 there will be an internation Star Wars marathon, where hundreds of thousands of fans gather together in several theatres to watch the films in a reverse order. Hope you get to attend!

There is ONE thing that has been bothering me and I could never figure out. Who is "Sifo Dyas"? He was mentioned at Kamino in Episode 2 and he dies 10 years ago. And I could not get any information on this character. Do you have any background or info?

George Lucas: Sifo-Dyas was simply a Jedi that was disillusioned with the way the Council went about doing things. In essence, he was much like Dooku, and betrayed by Darth Sidius just like Dooku was. There is information on him all around the internet. Feel free to go look it up.

Maybe this is a continuity error, but in The Empire Strikes Back when Vader proposes getting Luke Skywalker to join he and the Emperor, the Emperor likes the idea. So they spend the next 2 movies trying to get Luke to join them, implying that a third Sith would be possible.

George Lucas: It's not a continuity error at all. If you guys would think these things through, then you would find the answer. In Return of the Jedi, the Emporer hints that Darth Vader will be destroyed if Luke joins the dark side. That would be the point of him joining --- to replace the weak, tired Vader.

I have a question. To turn in to a ghost after death, do you have to meditate? In Episode 1, Qui-Gon Jinn meditates before Darth Maul kills him. In Episode 4 so does Obi-Wan Kenobi.

George Lucas: No, meditation isn't really the technique by which to turn into a ghost. It is a hard process that calls for immense concentration, high-midichlorian count, and deep wisdom. Qui-Gon was just meditating to gather the Force around him more to help him win the duel with Maul. Overall, that didn't work in his case though.

Lucas, why not go back and replace the trilogy with CGI movies? Steven Spielberg said that the technology was not that far away, and we can soon make characters out of CGI that look exactly like humans. That way you could go back to the movies and fix all errors and continuity. What do you think about that idea?

George Lucas: It sounds like a good idea. But I have spent my life working on these movies. After three more special-editions of changes, I'm through with Star Wars. Everything after that will be orchestrated by StarWarsIsUs. So you will have to speak with him about redoing the entire trilogy with enhanced CGI. I would be interested in doing it, but I am simply too old. Don't have as much energy as I used to. Need to spend the last decades of my life with my kids.

My name is Chad! How are you doing Goerge? i just wannet to ask if you r goin to put American Grifeeti in a 3-D format

George Lucas: As of this time, there are no plans to put American Graffiti in a 3D format. First off it isn't popular enough, and it wouldn't be worth all the hard work. Second off, who wants to watch that type of movie in 3D? You might find it to be interesting, but most people just wouldn't buy it.

How come you changed Return of the Jedi in that one part where Han Solo is dangling from the barge? You destroyed the possibility of him being Force sensitive! You keep taking the mystery out fo your films, Mr. Lucas. We fans don't appreciate it. Start changing everything back!

George Lucas: In canon, Han Solo is not Force-sensitive, and it was never really my intention to make him seem so at any point in time. I did what needed to be done, to prove once and for all that Han was no Jedi. After that, the rumors died, and people stopped asking me about it, until you showed up and asked this question. In September of this year, there are unedited versions of the film coming out. Just enjoy those instead of telling me to change everything back ... because I never will change anything back.

Well, anyways Star Wars rocks. I've seen Revenge of the Sith 2 times. Unfortunately my parents won't let me see it a third. (I hope to be in a Star Wars movie to meet the 2 brilliant minds of Star Wars). Later StarWarsIsUs, rock on.
