Sorry, I didn't post earlier, Barend. I was a bit busy this week. Also, I love the new sharks.
And I think I'm going to have to ignore Dr Lecter due to his stupid signature. Tell me when he stops using it.
Finally, Bond. That idea you pitched on the previous page for the Pulp Fiction reference was a bad idea. Consider it shot down.

Referencing a movie within the story is only funny if the hero's are heading down a similar path. (example here is that they were eating and had upset a gangster who would no doubt send thugs over, who would arrive while they were eating in their appartement). Taking the reference much further than that is only funny if you tailor it to suit what's already happening. Quoting the film's key speachers and one liners is just not on. Especially if the original material is already a comedy and you begin to rely on someone elses jokes to get a laugh [See 'Epic Movie' and it's reduntant references to 'Borat' in which they relied on the original materials jokes]. You can delve, but not to deeply.
Continue the scene reference for completion but don't rely on key quotes.
Thankyou Movie Goer for getting us back on track there.
Also: The Chefelf.com Lord of the Rings | RoBUTZ (a primative webcomic) | KOTOR 1 NPC profiles |
Music: HYPOID (industrial rock) | Spectrox Toxemia (Death Metal) | Cannibalingus (80s style thrash metal) | Wasabi Nose Bleed (Exp.Techno) | DeadfeeD (Exp.Ambient) |||(more to come)

Edit: Unless the panels are in direct violation of the rules, that is, such as some stuff that happened earlier. So I guess Bond's could have been omitted, but Slade let him keep it and now you guys are not complaining about the copy-and-paste nature of his comic, but instead, the content; and so you came down hard on him and are shutting that panel (and Dr. Lecter's, whose I thought was fine, and I don't think his signature should have any bearing on whether he's allowed to participate). That's the problem I have here.
This is getting a little too elitist for me.

As for Bond's panel, I had another look at it and yeah, it's fine. I found it a bit too far out of left-field when I first saw it though - which may be because I haven't seen "Pulp Fiction". In fact, it's a great example of the potential problem of obscure references. If they're not handled well, then they don't make sense to people who haven't seen the original sources of the reference.
A good reference should make sense in the context it's in. That way, people who haven't seen what it's referring to can still follow the story - and people who do get it can have their own little chuckle.
And Spoon, you seem to have a lot to say in this thread for someone who never contributes to it. If all you're going to do is come in and criticise users, why not just give it a miss?
And before you say I'm being hypocritical, I'll just remind you that I actually DO contribute to this thread so don't bother.
EDIT - Actually, REALLY don't bother because I'm through with this thing too.

The other reason is that this clearly isn't the same Screening Room I had a hand in creating and loved hanging around in so much back in 2004. I only started paticipating in this thread out of nostalgia for the screening room of three years ago - but that screening room was a fun place with lots of people who I really got on well with. That's not saying anything untoward about you, Spoon, you should understand - but we clearly don't have much in common.
So since I'm going anyway, feel free to post whatever you like.
Bond, I'm glad to see you're getting the hang of things.
Barend, I love your work, mate. It's good to see someone from the old crowd still here and I always enjoy your company. If I'm ever in Sydney, I'll look you up.
Anyway, bye guys. Stay out of trouble.

And I for one think the fun started leaking out of this game when the focus became making sure the plot goes just a certain way instead of rolling with the punches (and punchlines).
