I assume that many if not most astromech droids are like the Leatherman tools of the SW universe, being the conduit between living beings and the big mechanical/computer world around them. Keeping this in mind, why would Artoo be taken to the bridge of Grievius's ship, without any type of restraint, not to mention at all? Why not just eject him out into space? The "Now Artoo!" line and subsequent rescue are complete bunk, and you'd think an F-ing droid General whould take something like this into account!

Well, if they were going to go through the trouble of giving him a friggin' medal in TPM why not bring him forth as a prisoner?
Another problem. When he was skidding down the floor when the ship was tilting... why didn't he just fly?

I think that the rocket pack options Lucas fitted him out with is perhaps the worst thing he does. Almost as bad as the little "arm" that he grabbed the Com-Link with, which you alluded to in your reasons to hate ROTS. He's a robot with some sort of microprocessor for crying out loud! Why not just give him a phone jack and an AOL $10 card from Wal-Mart he can access the boyos on the ship with?
Looks like somebody had a lot of CGI and no clue as to what to do with it.

Funny thing is :
You could feel attached to this little droid who could barely walk on 3 wheels, had a spinning head/eye and a communications plug.. yet managed to do so much in the OT.
In the PT, R2D2 is a medal-awarded ... guardian of the Jedi... jet-packs-flying.. battle-droid-kick-ass of a droid
Now I feel he should have at least taken on GG ... he had jet-packs.. GG didn't. He could spit black oil.. GG didn't

I know that you believe you understood what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you read is not what I meant.

Worst diversion ever.
"Artoo, create a diversion - now!"
"Oh no, he's creating a diversion, what do we do?! Everybody panic!"
Neither Jedi seems concerned that the person that they're trying to rescue might get caught in the crossfire, despite the fact that he's stood right next to them. Obviously they're thinking 'He's surrounded by the dark side of the force, I'm sure he can take care of himself'.

Look out, sir, the droid is doing something!
Ahh! my lightsaber collection!
Quick, magna-droids engage electrostaves and have a close-quarters fight amongst all my sensitive instruments and controls.
Why didn't Grievous receive them somewhere less tactically freaking dangerous to bring prisoners - a brig or wardroom, instead he brings them right up to the control centre... with their resourceful little droid.
Still - for those who saw A Lost Hope, Grievous's banter with Anakin reminded me of the Vader-Mace duel, without the touche.
In conclusion - it wasn't just illogical for Artoo to be there, but for everyone to be there. And why the heck is an electrostave effective against a lightsaber?
