it's so true...
the one time he doesn't hit you aver the head with a direct statement, and his fans (who have become quite accostmed to being spoon-fed ever plot twist) have no idea what's going on....
i was so happy that finnally chose to present something with a little mystique, but as thinly shrowded as it was...
bugger all people got it...

I really hate this theory. I am not arguing with your logic or anyone else's, but I hate the idea that Palpatine "made" Anakin.

Cmon, Chef predicted Palpatine being Anakin's dad and it came true!
I like the theroy Palpatine, through a vision in the force (we know how much Lucas loves to fall back on the force to explain everything Jedi/Sith do), saw Anakin's virgins birth and decided to take credit for it. Or at least hint at taking credit for it. How else can you explain how Vader's totally whipped by the Emperor, to the point where he doesn't even get mad at his lying about Padme. He already lost mommy dearest, he doesn't want to lose the daddy he never knew.

I would say more that it's INdirectly implied, if implied at all. If it were directly implied Palpatine would have said, "Anakin I am your father", or something to that extent. Then he would have looked into the camera and winked, as a we hear a trumpet in the background. Wah Wah.
Um the "implication" (heh) of the word implied is that it is indirect. When you imply, you are saying something not right out, but indirectly. To indirectly imply is repetitive. I used "directly imply", despite it being an oxymoron, to show that though it was not stated outright, the implication of Palpatine's line was made extremely noticeable to the audience, and that I didn't see how it could be taken any other way. Saying "Anakin I am your father" is stating something, which is the opposite of implying.

a harsh upbringing on tatooine would make him easier to manipulate to the darkside...
and it wasn't a trillion to one chance, given that tatooine was the nearest planet to naboo that was good for hiding on... combined with the fact that in SW people always seem to land on planets they have never been to exactly where they need to...
like luke on the planet in the dagobah system.
R2D2 and C3P0 on tatooine.
etc.

The difference between Naboo and your other examples is that Luke was going to Dagobah. He was instructed by Ben to go there. As far as R2D2 and 3PO, that was sort of a coincidence. Mabye thier ship was giong to pick up Ben, but I think that they were passing by that system, and the pilots headed that way because Leia knew Ben was there, and wanted to get the droids to him.
Edit: Anyone else think Plagus is a stupid name? Why not call him Darth Virus, or Darth Common Cold, or Darth Infection?
GL tries to make these names as scary sounding as possible, when all he needs to do is make something that sounds menacing, not something that is menacing. For example: Sauron, Melkor, barend...

Besides, the names for the Sith are damn obvious.
Darth Maul... well, obviously from Maul he's... well a vicious physical force whoses brain is not the most important piece of the package... name tells all.
Darth Sidious... well, he's... subtle, insidious, uses tricks and secrets and lies before force.
Darth Tyrannous... well, he's majestic but evil.

Episode 3 Special Edition:
Palpy: QuiGon never told you who the hell your father was.
Anakin: He told me enough! He told me I was conceived by microscopic organisms that are symbions and called midichlorians who speak to people who are forcesensitive and while I admit the theory sort of contradicts every biologic law there is, I mean hey, this is 'the force' we're talking about...
Palpy: SHUT UP! No Anakin... well actually yes you know half the story, but IIIIIII am your father.

Qui-Gon never told you what happened to your father.
"He told me enough! He told me I have no literal father!"
No, I am technically your father!
"That's not true (wooden voice) isn't that impossible."
Search your midichlorians you know it to be true.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!"
Still... I still can't get over how silly the idea of Darth Plagueis the Wise is... when your prefix is Darth, you don't get friendly suffixes, and no one gets a silly name like Plagueis.
Darth Vlad the Impaler (evil prefix and suffix)
Darth Maul the Friendly (doesn't sound right)
