Gonna reiterate that this was probably for the best. I don't know her or her sis, but that seems like a huge overreaction and very early in the game. Seriously, she might have had the surprise spoiled, but she couldn't act happy that someone is thinking of her? Kind of strange. Whoops, you apologized. She's still crying two days later over spilled milk. Doesn't strike me as very mature.
So has she officially buried the thing or is she unwilling to comment, attempting to passively keep it going? I'm curious, cause I could totally be wrong about this girl and it would be a shame to cut ties. I've only your anecdotal evidence to go on. But also, If she's dodgy about it, that could lead to other passive aggressive issues.
And don't let her play the "I've had bad relationships" card to evoke sympathy. Listen, nobody makes changes unless they want to make them. You can't change her, only support her. If she's genuine, she will change. She's gotta wake up with that feeling that it's a brand new day, just like everyone else in the world. It really sounds like she's got some growing up to do.
So in the end, use your best judgment, don't be a doormat, and don't stop struggling. Best advice a hopeful cynic can give you.

OP: If she's that spazzy right from the start, you're better off finding someone else. Be happy you saw that side of her before you had a long term commitment. Though it sucks that this stupid wrench was thrown in the works so early.
