Is Jar-Jar in ROTJ ???
Posted 5 Mar 2008
Ok. I need some help out from some of you Star Wars gurus.
My nephew says one of his friends told him that Jar Jar Binks actually makes a small background appearance somewhere in Return of the Jedi.
I consider myself fairly knowledgeable in the film's content...and when he told me that, I automatically ruled out that Jar-Jar could not possibly be anywhere in the actual original 1983 footage.
For if he was, that would mean Lucas conceptualized Jar-Jar's character almost 17 years before The Phantom Menace was released. ..which I highly doubt.
So, my theory remains that if Jar Jar is in ROTJ, he would have to undoubtedly be somewhere in the Special Edition footage that was added in 1997.
I dont think Jar-Jar, or any gungan for that matter is featured anywhere in ROTJ, to my knowledge.
but my nephews friend says he is featured in a scene with Jabba on Tattooine.
Ill leave this to you guys. Is this kid on LSD or is Jar-Jar actually somewhere in there?? -
paranormal communication
Posted 24 Feb 2008
something that has always deeply intrigued me is paranormal communication, specifically communication with the deceased.
at some point in our lives we've certainly heard someone claiming that they have somehow, someway, they have been contacted by a deceased loved one.
while this has never happened to me, the abundance of varied reports cant seem to be denied. there's a fair share of books on the shelves at the bookstores, a fair number of websites dedicated to this, and a good number of people overall claiming they have been contacted
what exactly is going on? im not sure, but I do have to believe that something is happening.
there are a few websites that strike my interest in this:
http://www. aaevp.com/
http://theshadowlands.net/ghostwav. htm
they seem to deal more specifically with Electronic Voice Phenomenon, and even provide some purported recordings of afterlife communication. If youve never heard one of these audio clips before, it could cause a few tiny hairs on your back to stand up.
Sure, im skeptical, just like you may be.. Could this be a hoax? ...possibly. Are such claims simply faux? Who knows. But why would so many diligently dedicate themselves to this study? I never heard of any Paranormal/Parapsychic billionaires,..i dont think they are in it for the money, but i do believe that within the number of people out there that are honestly dedicating themselves to this study, that there are indeed those slimeballs that do nothing but set up hoaxes.
I hate to delve into religion, but within the context of the bible somewhere, it specifically forbids attempting to make contact with the deceased, basically indicating that all you would achieve as results would be establishing contact with demons.
why would the holy bible even indicate this? (if anyone knows specifically what part of the bible im referring to, please be kind enough to post the section)
Im interested in knowing if any other chefelfers out there believe in ghosts at all, or if youve been contacted by any deceased loved one, or the like. -
lost old cool games that need updating
Posted 18 Feb 2008
i remember playing a ton of kick ass games in the late 80's and early 90's. while some games do get revived in today's video game realm, i dont really think that a lot of these updates are really faithful to the original versions.
my nephew recently shown me a demo of the updated final fantasy VII that is forthcoming for the PS3. the intro scenes looked good, but i could help but notice that some parts of the intro looked like it was borrowed right off the original ps-one version circa 1997.
i remember playing some really good kick ass games on the nes. at the time i hailed these games as being superb. i still own some of these titles.
contra, castlevania, and metal gear were all kick ass games on the nes that have seen life here in the 21st century
..but there is still a ton of old school games that kicked ass that seem to be lost. if you were born in the late 1980's, and grew up in the 1990's, then chances are you probably dont know of such games im referring to.
games like: bad dudes, wrath of the black manta, shadow dancer, altered beast, operation wolf, karnov, kid icarus, star tropics.
some games just need to be remade entirely to make up for the total mess up that they were in their hey-day. back to the future for nes by ljn surfaces to my mind.
splatterhouse was an uber-cool game that is largely responsible for games like resident evil and silent hill, but its largely unknown by todays kids. it needs to be remade.
some games have been brought back, but to me they arent true to the original. the new shinobi has an annoying red ribbon tied to his waist everytime he jumps...i dont recall this at all from my genesis version.
where did double dragon float off to? that was a kick ass franchise that got messed up when they came out with the sacred stones game. id love to see that game brought back with much dignity. -
your random ideas for silly, interesting or weird games
Posted 21 Jan 2008
a brady bunch game: the game loads brings you to the menu screen, that is fashioned after the iconic checkerboard pose that has all 9 cast member gocking over each other.
on this menu screen, you can choose which of the 9 members you want to be. after that, you can choose which TV episode you want to play..or the computer will choose one for you.
so you can play as Greg and help run the lemonade stand...
chose Marsha and try to stop Jan from saying "Marsha Marsha, Masha" by stuffing her face with mashed potatoes.
PLay as Bobby..and chase the family dog around the yard & get it to go inside the doghouse before it rains.
play as the father tucking the boys into bed.
play as the granny...and try to slave away in the kitchen making dinner without burning down the house.
Play as peter & hold a fundraiser at school to pay for Cindy's braces -
