Despondent, I am happy that your wacky idealism was not misplaced.
Thanks, Slade.
Other than a 5 word reply simply for the sake that it's a new post; would anyone else who has seen this film like to comment?
I was a little (5-10%) disappointed. It felt like it was over too soon, so I guess it didn't drag much... The opening was great and I think there was a musical number thrown in. It was kind of a blur, but I did laugh out loud at least a dozen times- and stifled much in. And given the quality of recent seasons, Slade, the premise of more films is cause to be wary.

It was funny.

the scene when homer and bart were on the motorcycle encircling the inside of the dome to try to reach the hole at the top to get rid of the bomb felt surreal. ..i felt like i was going to fall off of that bike and fall to my death below.

You should, though; I had no desire to see it, either, but I went anyway -- turned out, I loved it.
I can't, I really can't. The Simpsons are dead to me, been dead to me ever since high school. For me, the charm and the magic is gone.
I am the Fisher King.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an obi-wan to go.

I went and saw the Simpsons movie yesterday, and I didn't laugh once the entire 90 minutes. It seemed like a really long, shitty episode from season 8+. In fact, I would have rather sat in the bottom of an outhouse than have watched that movie. I am now dumber after watching that pathetic excuse for a film.

I find that hard to believe.

Yes; by robbing the cashier.
