I don`t believe it frankly. The words "according to theforce.net" are always suceeded by me going "hmmm...".

And how the heck does this whole Midriclorian thing square with Yoda's words of 'Luminous beings are we... not this crude matter." That statement seems to suggest that the Force is a spiritual, supernatural thing. (Although perhaps the lines in TPM could just be taken at face value and one could assume that the midris simply enable one to 'hear' the Force?)
This is one of the main reasons I selected that quote for my sig, when I first came to this board. It pretty well sums up everything Lucas has done to these film for my part and thus I like having it there as a reminding statement everytime I post.

That's funny. My sig is a comment on the sorts of things Lucas says in press releases, when asked questions about race and such.

Kenny Baker wasn't going to be Luke. The quote is bullshit. I mean, he said that, but it's bullshit. That's Lucas's response to a question about why they didn't have like, say, an Asian person in the movie. Rather than asking the interviewer something like "Where were all the Asians in THE WIZARD OF OZ?," which frankly would have been the right way to counter a thing like that, Lucas goes all blustery and makes up this weirdness about midgets.

That explains the Star Wars Kid phenomena.

Ha ha! I guess so long as Lucas keeps making statements we'll have plenty to fill our sigs with in the coming years.
Special note to Heccubus if he happens to read this thread. I particularly like your Willy Wonka sig. It is the one I almost used when first signing on to this forum.
