Bears eat man at beer festival

BELGRADE, Serbia (Reuters) -- A 23-year old Serb was found dead and half-eaten in the bear cage of Belgrade Zoo at the weekend during the annual beer festival.

The man was found naked, with his clothes lying intact inside the cage. Two adult bears, Masha and Misha, had dragged the body to their feeding corner and reacted angrily when keepers tried to recover it.

"There's a good chance he was drunk or drugged. Only an idiot would jump into the bear cage," zoo director Vuk Bojovic told Reuters.

Local media reported that police found several mobile phones inside the cage, as well as bricks, stones and beer cans

It's nice that in Serbia, if someone jumps in a cage with grizzly flesh eaters, they say he must have been an idiot. If this had been in the US the mother of this dude would be jumping up and down and the bears would be shot and killed.

I assume there where more people with him at the time of his death.

There are several questions that need answering.

1. He (and the other people) must have been alone since no one called emergency services.

2. How did he get into the zoo if he was drunk, surely if there were no people to call emergency services then it must have been closed.

3. Why was he (and the other people) in the zoo if it was closed?

I have come to the conclusion that he and his friends must have sneaked into the zoo (one of them might work there) gotten drunk; thrown bricks, cans and stones at the bear then one of them got into the cage to show off or try to rape the bear.

Wow. That guy was my age. What a cool thing to do. I could have been him had I been willing to get up and go out to find some bears. Bloody bears are always elusive.

they say he must have been an idiot. If this had been in the US the mother of this dude would be jumping up and down and the bears would be shot and killed.

We have the same problem here in Australia (as you no doubt know). As soon as someone is mauled by a Shark; a Shark hunting party is sent out or when the Croc Hunter was stung by a stingray; several stingrays were massacred as a result. Same goes with dingoes whenever a sheep is eaten.
