I smell a Photoshop contest a la Something Awful. It's not like anything else is going on around here anyway, right?

Your character panics in dark, tight spaces, so you have to slowly sneak your way out of the asylum while controlling your breathing by steadily pushing the left arrow...right arrow... left arrow... et al. Breathe too fast and your character will hyperventilate, panic and run headlong into murderous psychotics, breathe too slow and you'll gasp for air with much the same effect. If you're seen by one of the patients, you're dead.
Just thought it warranted a mention.

Jenx, I made the picture by using images from The Colonel's Bequest (another game that scared the pee out of me as a kid). The raven I took from a screen capture of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. The enemy is called a "Black Crow".
Ordinarily I'd never share these things with you, but since I'm such a crappy photoshopper I didn't really care.

Did it EVER!
Honestly, it wore its many borrowed influences on its sleeve fairly early in the game, and they aren't what I had the biggest beef with. Playing the opposing sides to a single story worked really well. I mean the plot was serviceable and the atmosphere pretty cool for about 5/6th of the way through, and then the eggs burst in the writers brain or something and during the last parts of the game we had weird explanations fly out of nowhere and dumb, clunky characterization that I can only describe as "stunningly retarded".
Despite my ranting above it really WAS a fun game to play through for the most part, albeit with some quirks.

OMG YES! sure i was a kid at the time but fark!!! that was a scary game... back in the time of course...
Also, another scary game was Trespasser, that Jurrasic Park fps on a 50 dollar budget. I don't know what scared me, the velociraptors jumping out at you from every corner or the sound of Minnie Driver coming out of a pair of pixelated breasts.

I think it might have been the huge graphical and gameplay glitches lurking around the next corner, and you never knew when they'd strike again.
