But wait a sec - these guys want to form militia and fight - what? Government who set up the law that they are able to carry the said guns? Weird. But I was never any good in getting into other people's minds - some things are ust beyond my comprehension.
Speaking of fear - I have recently got into a heated discussion on some blog concerning global warming. Man, these guys have almost eatem me alive when I said that CO2 tax is stupid and ineffective... Sorry, had to tell this to someone...

Re: CO2 tax - most measures being taken to protect the environment are stupid and ineffective, IMO. Cap and trade is my personal favourite. But I'm not sure how that relates?

It reminds me of Catholic sreaming at the top of their lungs in my country that they are being oppressed. Wait a second - you have religion in public schools, crosses everywhere, anti-abortion laws straight from catholic way of thinking, politicians conferring with bishops all the time decisions are taken and yet you scream of OPRESSION?
This government that they fear so far ALLOWS this gun parade! But well, maybe it works different in US, with federal and state legislation not being necessarily the same and these guys just fear that federal laws are going to infringe on their redneck territory.
Anyway, I just feel SAFER when I know that over here it is pretty much impossible for ordinary people to get hold of a gun - the only exceptions being small airguns, for which you do not need permit. Favourite passtime of gun enthusiasts in my country, I believe, is shooting pidgeons and crows with these things. Or paintball. When I feel sudden urge to shoot at things, I have a round of Fallout 3 rather than paintball (paintball hurts like hell)- and yes, hunting rifle is far less effective than assault rifle

It doesn't. Just, as I mentioned in Star Wars forums, there are so few of us these days, that it is not (IMHO) worth opening a new topic. I just had to vent my frustration somehow. But ok, maybe I will start a new topic.

Ha ha ha , how very true. However, it only works when the other side plays by the rules. I got hit when I ran out of balls, waved my gun in the air and turned back to get a fresh supply. Some &#%$*% hit me square in the back. Need I mention, that it was the first and last time I played paintball? And of course, I never knew who it was.

But yeah, paintball with strangers is a waste of time. Too many cheaters, too many shitheads. I haven't tried it since that stag, which was years ago.
PS: Don't you try to take mah guns away!

I've been fortunate enough to have a very similar experience to yourself Civ and it is a glorious feeling to see brains win over brawn when all else is equal. One of the best days out. Oddly enough it was also on a Bucks (Stag) weekend.
Next time you visit MC we'll take you out paintballing again and show you how it's done. :-)

Now water guns, thats always been my favorite, not nearly as painful as paintball, and a lot more fun on a hot summer day. I have probably the most complete collection of 1990s super soakers in the state. Even the saught after 2000 and monster XL. Forgive me if no one has a clue what I'm on about.

I will personally forgive you for my own ignorance of the topic. Hopefully others can find it in their hearts to forgive you for theirs.

I used to sell a selections of the Super Soakers in the early 90's when I worked in a large toy store. I think it was the Super Soaker 3000 which had the back pack... it served me well. We spent one evening on the night fill (which was a very small fill night) running around the store for about 3 hours in a 16 man (and woman) soak fest. Then spent the following 2 hours on clean up so no evidence remained.

Thank you. On nostalgia note, looking back, that trip to Australia was the best thing that ever happened to me when I was working for that ^%$# corporation. And 90% of the "best thing" was that I met friedns there. But I am sure paintball experience will beat even Belgium Beer Cafe .

I should think shooting water in a toy store would not be wise. Weren't you be afraid of soaking all the teddies and Baribe's clothes? When I was little I was not allowed to administer injections to teddy bears (my mother worked in hospital, so I watched giving injections a lot), because they were difficult to dry. DOlls, on the other hand, were ok, because after injection all you had to do was to detach a leg or arm and pur out the water.
On the gun note - when I was little, my brother used to construct various devices that shoot things and made explosions. Funny thing is, my husband, whose childhood was good twenty years earlier also told me of his forays into military engineering and the designs was basically the same. Looks like the knowledge how to make "key guns" was somehow spread like an ancient lore.
But man, these things were dangerous. Homemade arrows and bows, not to mention shooting with ball bearing balls.

Nah, it is just the kids who were exposed to a lot of war films and TV. Would you believe, the most famous TV series for kids of all times in my country is a series about WWII and a tank crew who go all the way from Russia to Berlin? ALL boys wanted to be the crew members, here is wikipedia reference:

(gosh, is there any shit in the world that is NOT referenced in Wikipedia???)
