There's another thread here somewhere that explains the reasons why there's not a comic forum. Well, it explains that Hecc said he'd create one to prevent people screaming 'no comics in the book club', there wasn't any, Chef wasn't convinced we needed one, and the idea got forgotten.

I normally create a new subforum when I notice a huge amount of topics about a particular subject in another forum. For example: there were a million other movie topics int he Star Wars forum so I created a separate forum for other movie (though this probably works in reverse on most other forums).
The same is true of other items.
Aside from all the threads asking to create a comics forum I don't think there was very much discussion of comics on the site so I didn't think it was really necessary.
I have never seen a topic about cars (that I can recall) so I'm not sure our community would really be big enough to support that.
I think one mistake a lot of forums make is that they open up with too many subcategories right off the bat. There's be 4 registered members and 15 sub forums, anticipating all these topics that may come up. I'd prefer to only open sub forums as our users seem to show the need for them.
If people began discussing cars regularly I would certainly open a car forum but at this point I'm not sure it's necessary.

Infact, if all goes according to plan, and I'm sure it won't, I'll never buy a car...ever. There are too many of them on this planet and all they do is suck your money.

And how will you get to the grocery store?
I am with you, Jordan. I don't care a damn about cars. I never understood the appeal until I got into computer hardware and can discuss specs etc. for hours on end.
Having said that, if there was a huge need for a forum here I would create one, but I doubt many gearheads are coming to chefelf.com to discuss cars. If they are then they're not really in the right place. The problem with starting a car forum here is that there's probably 4,000 car forums online that would be 100% better so there's not really much point I don't think.

If you started a Lobby topic or even a Debate Club topic on cars, that should just about suit all the carishness here at Chefelf.

Don't worry Jordan, you're not alone. I do own a car, but that's only because I need it.
