Depicting young ladies lost most of its touch ever since my girlfriend came around, I pretty much find myself uninterested in intensively studying the shapes of other womenfolk now.
I thought about doing objects or landscapes and started on tracing some plants for practice, but it took me only five minutes to realize that I'd be completely bored out of my mind if I had to go on for another five minutes.
Long story short: Whatever I started drawing, my heart just wasn't in it, and that's simply no way to work.
Finally, I sat down and thought about what's really required to bring back that ol' feeling and eventually came to this conclusion:
My primary focus isn't really to express myself through art (ain't much to express there in the first place). Instead, I simply love to evoke some reactions in others, preferably amicable ones. I don't care so much about what I draw, as long as someone would ultimately say: "Now that's something I could stare at for hours!"
So why not just use that? If you got some idea for a picture done in my style, I'd be glad to hear about it. And then we might work together on realizing it until it looks like something we had in mind or even better than that.
I think it would be pretty neat to get some constructive atmosphere in here where everyone can speak up and add his skills, ideas or other talents to the whole process if he wants to. And of course it doesn't have to circle around what I'm doing - I'm just hoping to get something to keep me busy out of this, but if you'd rather just work with others or fish around for some ideas yourself, then that's more than fine.
Well then, I guess that's about the gist of it. So let me give you an idea of what it is that I've done so far and maybe you'll see some potential in it.
I specialize on special effects of all sorts with digital tools, mainly Photoshop. I can pull a lot of neat tricks with that, but I'm pretty much screwed when it comes to drawing by hand. That's why I require lots of precise references and some studying to finally twist and turn things around until they fit the image I had in my head. I vary between minimalism and detail-overkill, focusing on vectors to create shapes at very high resolutions.
But I guess pictures work better than words.
