    Actually the age restriction is a precaution against the psychological condition of the would be Padawan rather than the physical. An individual learns fear at an early age and unless conditioned prior he or she will always be more susceptible to the lure of the Dark Side. The rule has nothing to do with the potential to become a great warrior... after all, wars not make one great.
