Listening to the radio the other day I heard the song "Surrender" by Cheap Trick. It's one of those songs they've been playing regularly on the radio practically since I was born. So in being so familiar with it I never really paid much attention to the actual MEANING of the lyrics.

That all changed when I decided to actually listen to the lyrics. Then I realized that this song, while decent, is lyrically the worst song ever written.

Now, I had heard the WACS recruited old maids for the war.
But mommy isn't one of those, I've known her all these years.

It could also be the best song every written. I guess it all depends on your point of view.

this is one of those songs that if it comes on when i am driving, i want to steer my little 6 cylinder car into the nearest river, i agree it has to be one of the worst songs ever written up there with muskrat love............welllmaybe not that bad but you get what i am trying to say.

What the hell does ANY of it mean? This is what I'm saying. The words dont' even rhyme! The only excuse for such shoddy lyrics is if you're trying to force some rhymes. What was Cheap Trick's excuse?
